I keep getting the dreaded BSOD when trying to upload my forerunner 305 data. I'm using Windows7. Apparently this is a common problem. I can't find a solution online anywhere. Is anyone else experiencing this or have you had this problem and found a solution

Has it ever worked or is this something new that started happening?

    Try contacting their support http://www.garmin.com/us/support/contact/

If it works on XP you could work around the issue.

Download Oracle Virtualbox which is a freeware virtual machine management

Create a virtual machine with Windows XP.

Make sure when you create the virtual machine you enable USB support which is in the setting tab.

You should be able to plug the Garmin device in and then use the XP Virtual machine to do the upgrade.

I hope that all makes sense.

ETA: A virtual machine is a machine that runs like a regular computer but is a guest on your laptop. You can only run it using a Virtual Machine management software and it will be a self contained computer so will not do anything to your windows 7 laptop.

If I even need to test something or get some old hardware running that I know works on XP and not on windows 7 this is what I do and it works like a charm.

Thanks, I will try this if I can get a copy of XP from somewhere, my old pc is junk now.
