I'm not sure what to do. I've been doing this low calorie now for a full week, and can't understand whats going on. Before I started doing low calorie, I was more of a low carb person, so I'm wondering if my body is just confused. I was a little discouraged, but trying to keep a long term perspective. Should I cut back on my number of carbs in a day? Thanks for any input!

Can you open up your diary? That's really the only way we can help.0

I agree with the previous post. The bottom line is maintaining a healthy balance with calories taken in and fine tuning it with the calories you burn as you exercise. It is trial & error until you strike that right balance.0

I agree it could just be a shock to your system. are you eating a lot of carbs now?0

If you added carbs back to your diet your body will have more glycogen stores, and glycogen retains water. Most likely your weight increased due to water retention, not fat, so don't worry.0

Water water everywhere.
How many workouts per week?
How much are you eating daily?
How tall are you and how much do you weigh?0 -
Are you tracking your sodium? High sodium diets lead to water retention. Also, anywhere near that time of the month? I gain 4-5 lbs at this time. Just water weight though. Make sure you are drinking at least 8 cups of water per day to wash out the excess.0

ignore the scale about 3 weeks. Your body is getting use to the change. drink water like a fish in 3 weeks get back on and if you are true to yourself you body will show you
All the other stuff is good advice too.0 -
I took a vacation and did a LOT of walking and eating (somewhat responsibly). I did not drink enough water though. When I came back I thankfully was the same weight. The next three days I gained a pound, even though I was under my calorie count. I think my body just needed to adjust - then I went down 1.5lbs today.
There may be some food choices or drinking issues, but we don't know about that. My husband says just wait it out sometimes and keep doing the right thing with eating and exercising.
Just give it time though.0 -
Give it another week. If your still gaining then review your goals and make adjustments.0

All these suggestions are good + plus make sure you weight yourself at the same time of day each time. I recommend the morning after you have gone to the bathroom and before you eat or drink anything. That helps with water weight variations0

Check your sodium too. It's entirely possible to eat within your calorie goal but WAY overdo it on sodium which would cause you to retain water.0
