Hi guys.
What is 'insanity' training ? Do you mean Interval training ?
Insanity is a 60 day DVD program with fitness trainer Shaun T doing Interval training workouts.0 -
i worked with a personal trainer this summer for about 6 weeks. i made NO progress ( and some of this was my own fault, i refused to eat more than 900 cal a day and i was doing boot camp work outs 3 days a week with her and cardio 3 days a week on my own).
BUT ( and this is my point), she was not in the best shape herself. she was one size smaller than me! i don't know what her weight was, but i did ask her her size. someone that is supposed to get ME in shape was in the same shape *I* was!!!
i'd rather do my beach body work outs and follow men like shaun T and tony, and women like chalene. they LOOK amazing and if they are willing to show ME what THEY do to look that good, then i am willing to follow :-)0 -
You lost body fat, which is more important that scale numbers. That's your indicator that you are on the right track. You might want to wear a HRM to track what you are burning, if you are not already doing so. You might be eating too few calories. With extra muscle comes a higher BMR. Trainers do have good advice, but they also want to solicit business. That's how they get paid. So you can take what he says with a grain of salt. But, as for Insanity, I've never done that. I lift at the gym & do Zumba & Salsa Kickboxing. I do know that if you don't mix it up you won't see results after your body acclimates to the workouts.
Good luck with your 6 pack, I wish!! :flowerforyou:0 -
i am doing a p90x/ turbo fire hybrid right now. once i am done, my plan is to start the new rules of lifting for women. i am going to look at the book in the next couple weeks. i am incredibly impressed by the results of the women on this site that are doing this program! they look AMAZING!
maybe you could find someone willing to help you out at least in the beginning. and i don't mean necessarily a trainer, LOL! just another gym go-er :-)
I just bought the book The New Rules of Lifting for women. (Has anyone tried that program?) I hope to start doing it in 2 weeks when I finish Insanity. Since I have no experience in weight training I hope that program will help me to get to my goals. I am shy of using weights at the gym especially because it's mostly men and I have no idea on how to use them and I don't want to look dumb trying to figure it out. What gives me motivation to start it is knowing that now I have the access to the trainers to help and teach me how to use the weights.
Once again thank you everyone!0 -

I get what you mean, I have seen that myself! I love beachbody workouts I have TF and have done a few HIIT workouts when I'm short on time but haven't done the whole program. So far they have given me amazing results in little time. But I wanted to change it up a little and try that book.0 -

Yea that's why I stopped paying attention to the scale, as long as I see a difference that is all that matters. I will try eating more calories, and I will see how that goes. Also mixing it up sounds good, I will try that as well...thank you!0 -
I use the the Borg scale with my clients-some meds affect the heart rate. Did he do a body fat measurement on you?0

Thank you everyone for your advice, it really helps and motivates me to keep pushing even though I had a bad experience yesterday! I just felt that the reason he was talking bad about Insanity and HITT is because it works and I don't need his services or advice while doing it.
Just received good news! There is a gym here at work, I just found out I have access to it. Wasn't sure because I wasn't an actual employee just here on contract and I just got my boss to give me permission after I told him what happened yesterday. Everything is free and they have free personal trainers, so I will be going to them. They don't have sales on their agenda so I'm sure they will be there to help me. I hope I have a better experience with them!
