I like the Breakstone's 2% reduced sodium brand with fresh fruit, usually oranges. I'll have it for breakfast or a mid morning snack.
  • Franks red hot sauce! :)
  • I love mine with tomatoes and lots of black pepper!

I like pineapple, peaches or pears. Or just plain with black pepper (I know it sounds weird, but that started in college. :) )

With fresh fruit of any kind
    With granola and fruit
    Stirred into yogurt
On a waffle with fresh fruit or a drizzle of honey
    Plain, by itself
With salsa (like pico de gallo, homemade)

    Love it! :)
  • Plain
    Black pepper
Sunflower Seeds stirred in (nice crunch)
Crouton crumbles stirred in (again crunch and a little flavor although high on the sodium if that's an issue for you - it's not for me)
With chopped apple, sliced strawberries, some grapes, chopped nuts, and a dash of cinnamon stirred in
  • I actually mix my lowfat cottage cheese into my tossed salad. I know it sounds wierd but it kinda takes the place of a creamy dressing. I also love it with lots of black pepper and a little salt and use it as a dip for my Special K crackers. I have always loved cottage cheese.

ONLY with fruit - grapes or pinapple, pears, peaches or sometimes melon.

    Cottage cheese

I eat it on the recommendation of my PT. Have elected to eat it with pineapple on oat cakes followed by something with a strong taste to get rid of the cottage cheese after taste.
  • On a salad! Makes the dressing go further! Also, if you mix in a packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix in to a large (3 cup) tub of cottage cheese and let it sit overnight, the next day it makes an AMAZING cracker dip! Use low fat cottage cheese and you have a winner compared to other dips out there!

That's how I love mine! Also with fruit, or hot sauce, sprinkled with bacon, mixed with cucumbers and tomatoes. Doesn't really matter as long as it's not plain, unless I am cooking with it.

My staple breakfast at the moment is spreading some peanut butter onto toast and topping it with some cottage cheese. I also like it as a snack with some cereal (Special K w/ Red Berries) on top, the sweetness of the cereal and the saltiness of the cheese play together well.

    Tomato
    Different fresh fruit
    Salt and pepper
    Sliced cheddar cheese
  • I like mine with sliced green olives! Or, avocado & a bit of parmesean cheese. I also use black pepper with both combos
  • On a hot jacket potato, with baked beans, or on ryvita crispbreads.

Dan Noonan - My staple breakfast at the moment is spreading some peanut butter onto toast and topping it with some cottage cheese.

OMG how funny that's what i used to do.. i'd take some whole wheat toast, top it with almond butter and cottage cheese and drizzle honey on it.. then sprinkle some ground flax seed. was my fav breakfast for a while.

I also would mix CC with tuna and put it in my salad or even as a sandwich...

i used to take cucumber slices and top them with hummus and cottage cheese..

i used to do a lot with CC b/c it had a lot of protein. would eat it with whatever i could.

Oh my! so many great ideas I don't where to start!

I would have never thought of some of this, but sounds great! Thanks everyone!
  • I love it with tomatoes and salt & pepper. I love to top pineapple, strawberries, or peaches with it. I love it plain though too. With garlic pepper! Yum. I am a cottage cheese-o-holic. It's pure protein too!!!!
  • I eat it with salt and pepper. Try dipping some crackers in it, that is also good.

I like it "savory" - pepper, garlic powder, tomato, cukes, dill pickles <--mmmm, I don't care for it sweetened or with fruit. I like to put a scoop of it right in the middle of a salad sometimes.

I actually like it just plain, but sometimes mix it up, there's lots of good suggestions on here. One more to add, mix it with salsa and eat it as is or with chips (healthier choice of chips or pretzels)

An MFP friend of mine here (keeponkickin) recently put on some hi-protein smoothie recipes with cottage cheese. I've made several and they are good. I don't have the recipes with me, but I think she put them on the recipe board. Cottage cheese, milk, protein powder, and pudding mix. YUMMY
