My story is I am a 49 year old male who has been overweight my entire life. Fast approaching the 50 year mark in November, I am well aware that I am now paying the consequences for 40+ years of bad habits. As my profile states, one can slip by their teens, 20's, 30's and part of the 40's without much ado except some huffing and puffing and being more tired than most. I now suffer mental and physical consequences from my prior indulgences. The past cannot be changed however I can change and have changed my destination. Over the past year, mostly from just eating right since exercise is nearly impossible at 420 pounds, I have dropped 122 pounds and now weigh in just under 300 at 298. It is more psychlogical than material between 298 and 301 but I am going to make my goal no matter what.

This seems like a great place to continue my journey to knock off the remaining 118 pounds. Everyone seems very positive on this site and it is quite friendly to use so far.

Wow, congratulations on losing 122 pounds already! :flowerforyou:
Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the rest of the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it!
I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off! :noway:
Don't go making the mistake that if you have LOTS of numbers left at the end of the day that you'll lose even faster, because that DOESN'T happen. Feel free to read any info about the site in the "help" section at the top of the home page. And also, under "all topics", then "general", and check out the first few threads. They'll really help you understand how MFP works.
Before coming here, I had tried just about EVERYTHING out there, including hypnosis, TWICE, and nothing really worked until MFP!
Also, drink LOTS of water, it REALLY DOES help! :drinker:

Thank you for your support and advice. I like your personalized ticker and you have done super losing 44 pounds. Your tip on inputting food BEFORE it is eaten makes sense and I will try that. I did have some bad days in losing the 122 pounds over the past 16 months mainly due to the fridge/cupboard "hunts" that led to bad choices when hungry!

Ya, I try to tell all the newbies to log their foods, it really DOES lead them to making much better choices! I know I sure did when I started seeing my numbers!!! :noway:

Way to go!!! I have been doing this for a few months and never fully used MFP. I never used the support end of it. but after reading all the wonderful encouragement you got, I think I've been missing out!
I have a whole other person to lose and looking forward to giving and getting the support we all need.
Best Wishes to you and keep it up.. We can do it!

    welcome to MFP.

This is a great site. Get to know all the features of the site and make use of them.

I agree about logging your food before you eat. It saves me from thinking about food all day if I plan the night before and then stick to the plan.

When I see my food log I can see where I am eating foods with a lot of calories and not much nutrition so I can make adjustments for the future.

Stay open minded to new ideas and your journey will continue to be successful.
