For some reason I got a fire up my rear at the worst possible time...I am going on a cruise on the 11th!

I just bought Jillian Michaels' 30-Day Shred and her Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism that I originally planned on using together after I get back from the cruise. My question is this: should I start using one of the disks now, put it on hold while I am on the cruise, just use the gym on the ship and then come back to it (either start where I left off or start all over) when I get back or should I just be pateint and wait to start everything when I get back and just use the gym on board? I am just really excited and motivated right now :)

Thanks in advance!

Doing both could be quite painful! Especially if you've never done any of her workouts!
Go ahead and get started! You can finish up once you get back, or start over, depending on how you feel!

Get started! It never hurts to start. Depending on how you feel when you get back you can start over or pick up right where you left off.

My suggestion is to go ahead and get started now. You may not want to do both of them, but at least start on one and pick it back up after your cruise.

    Have fun!!

I agree with everyone else...pick one and get started! No time like now...
I'm doing the shred right now. :)

Start now!!! I just got back from a cruise...I worked out twice in the gym; and you will be able to replicate the workout with no problem! I also DID NOT use the elevator once...I took the stairs every time. Lots of walking opportunities.

I've done both.. 30 Day Shred follows a specific plan.. maybe just do Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism for now.. it's 45 min... and it's a good workout.. you'll be sore... but it's worth it. :) Good Luck!
  • Thanks everyone!! I was thinking about doing just one of them pre-cruise, probably the BFBM, because a boosted met. would be a nice thing to have on a cruise with all the best food in the universe! LOL! I compitition danced for 12 years and only stopped working out about 5 months ago, so I should be able to handle what she has in store for me! .....maybe :P
  • Fantastic! I like being sore because then I know I worked :)

30 day shred is hard but NOTHING like BFBM. BFBM is intense, I thought I was going to pass out or puke after finishing it the first time!! It's long and crazy but just do your best!!! I say start now, you have two weeks to look amazing on your cruise!! Have a blast, I love cruises <3

My Pilates instructor actually made me break a sweat yesterday (I don't sweat easily for some reason)...I was feeling a little faint, too. But I thought to myself "YES! Burn those calories! Build that lean muscle!"...hopefully I will be able to do the same with BFBM and not want to kick my TV :P

I was thinking the same thing, if I start now I can at least get a couple inches off for my cruise and maybe wear my "pretty dress" that currently hugs in all the wrong ways! Yes, I could use an excuse to go shopping...but I need an excuse to get healthy more :)

"use the gym on the ship"

I swore I was going to do that too but never happened.

You will have plenty of activities going on to help burn off the food, make sure you take the stairs a lot, hike one of the ports or more but seriously relax and don't fret the workout on your cruise. I gave everything up for mine, stayed active, gained 2lbs and had that lost in the first week back. It's a vacation, make sure that's how you treat it, you will enjoy it much more. You are treating yourself for all of that hard work, take the treat.

I have 7 of Jillian's videos and I have never done a "plan". Personally, doing the same exercise everyday for 10 days seems a little overkill to me. I mix it up and do a different video each day. This way I'm always getting stronger bc I'm constantly changing what my body is doing.

I suggest starting now and picking back up where you left off. Maybe try alternating which days you do each workout. I've been REALLY successful doing this and lost a ton of inches. Good luck!

This is my 4th cruise and none of the other times I used the gym...not sure who I am trying to kid :P But like I said, I have recently become highly motivated!! The ideas of taking the stairs is GREAT! We Americans are so spoiled with elevators...I almost gave them up for Lent! Not even joking.

30 Day Shred has more weights and resisitance (with cardio and abs mixed in), BFBM is almost exclusively cardio (with like 1 circuit of abs and no weights used whatsoever). I would say try alternating them on different days if you're really itching to try the both out. BFBM gives a great calorie burn, but doing it for about a month did not do for my body anywhere near what 30 Day Shred did. I lost a bunch of inches on my month of the 30 Day shred but had only teeny tiny changes in measurements when I was doing almost exclusively BFBM. I do really really like the workout though, it gets your heart pumping and like I said burns great calories, that's why I say try alternating one on one day and then the other the next, plus that way you don't get bored doing the same workout every day.

That's what I was thinking about doing, alternating! Maybe 2 days of 30DS, a day of BFBM, a day of rest. Then mirror that, a day of BFBM, 2 days of 30DS, a day of rest and so on. I dunno yet...I have to watch and get a feel for what they do to me :)
