Stay-at-Home "life-style"

OK, honestly, I've got two toddlers I am running around the house after, all day. Do you think this goes the next level above sedentary? Over on Livestrong I was clocking those hours as burning calories. Here I haven't found that under cardio and I am having a hard time believing my calorie intake max. Thoughts?

From personal experience I have mine set to the level right below the most active, I am a stay at home mom/daycare provider, I hold/carry around infants all day, chase toddlers, work with younger children. Whether you are taking care of 1 or 10 you have to be pretty active.0

I agree, set your Goals with "Active" if you are a stay at home Parent.
Then only worry about your planned, sustained exercise for the "Exercise" calculations (you know, like running, or hiking or swimming etc.)

Definitely NOT sedentary.0

not sedentary, but still don't regular activity as exercise0

I set mine as "sedentary" but then add in any extra effort, like grocery shopping (which I entered as 'walking, slow pace') etc. There's an exercise entry for "food preparation" and also for "walking carrying a child" you could use.0

I'm a stay at home mom of a 2 year old and (almost) 4 year old.. I still keep it at sedentary for safe measures.. I work out twice a day and just log my work outs despite the fact that I'm also busy chasing 2 spider monkeys all day Lol.0

This is not the intent on this site. It is set to give the calories you need for your normal daily activity and then you add in your planned exercise.

Thanks All
Spider Monkeys...that's my term for the 26 month old and his 11 month old brother will be following him shortly. Thinking about back-to-back bungee cord for summer:laugh:0 -
Right, but for me and my lifestyle, well I go grocery shopping 3x a month or so and it is a marathon effort (3 or 4 stores, 3 or 4 hours. Sometimes I push a cart with one hand and drag a cart with the other. Definitely a workout!) So that's NOT part of my regular lifestyle. Same with the "food preparation". I don't enter making lunch every day, but on a day when I'm doing a mountain of food prep (maybe I'm canning, or freezer cooking, or making a bunch of bread and kneading, or whatever) and I'm in the kitchen for a couple of hours, then I *would* enter it. With the baby carrying, I wouldn't add that if I'm just taking the baby to bed. But if we are at the zoo and the toddler gets tired and I carry her for half an hour before we find the stroller rental? Yeah, I'd add that too.
Sorry I wasn't more clear.0
