Is 100lbs in 1 year an OK goal?

I have to lose 100lbs to get to my goal weight and a healthy BMI for my age and height. Do you think doing it in 1 year is realistic enough? I am already at a set back as I have a knee injury and am having to have surgery april 2nd and probably wont be cleared for exercise until the end of april. But I would like to start my 30's as a healty me, as I am not right now. I have til January until i turn 30.

i think that is certainly an attainable goal, as i've seen a lot of people on MFP that have lost that, or sometimes even more, within a year. I imagine it will take a lot of committment but its been done by others, so its definitely worth a solid go!0

If there's 52 weeks in a year, then 100 lbs is about 2 lbs per week.
It's doable, especially if you have a fair bit to lose, but you'll have to work really hard to achieve it.
But I like the idea of setting the goal for a year away - the weight wont come off evenly so setting a longer term like that is a good idea.0 -
A loss of 2 lbs a week is reasonable and while not always easy, can be attained. Since there are 52 weeks in a year, you would lose over 100 if you lost those 2 lbs a week! I've seen some success stories that keep me inspired. Set your goal to 2 lbs a week, stay within your calories, find what works for you and when you get the all clear, start moving. Best of luck to you!0

but its also important to remember that you didnt gain it all in a year, so don't be upset if you cant lose it all in one either0

Are you going to turn into a pumpkin in one year? As an RN; (I peeked at your profile), you should already know about setting small, attainable goals. These add up into big goals achieved. As you progress, you will be healthier. As long as you keep moving forward. You got this!0 -
It's possible, depending on how much you have to lose & how much work you're willing to put into it. My one year on here will be on March 25th, & I've lost 276lbs so far. I still want to lose another 150lbs to be truly happy. You can do this if you try!0
