hi, can anyone advise on how I can shift belly fat? Im losing inches from my hips, thighs, bust and arms, but not my waist. I have a muffin top and Im fed up of it now!

When I am well (have had a bout of illness recently) I usually do cardio such as cross trainer or treadmill running, plus rowing and stepping at least twice a week, and I attend a body combat class which is boxing, thai boxing and strength training twice a week too
Then 1 day per week, I do weight training, sit ups, press ups etc.

Im starting to incorporate Zumba once a week to shake it up a bit too (no pun intended) LOL

Is there anything specific Im could do to focus on my belly fat, I know there are abs hiding under there somewhere....

any advice greatly appreciated xx

Q: Can you do anything to target weight in a specific area of your body.
    A: No

Lose weight overall is the only way, sorry.

You can't target where the fat comes off. There's so many topics asking this exact question, and sadly, you can't. You can work certain body parts to firm up the muscle underneath and tone, but of course, if you have a lot of fat, you wont' see it anyway. Keep up your cardio and do workouts that target your core and abs and as the fat disappears, your abs will replace them.

I have fat on just my body, is there any way to target just that specific spot...my entire body?

all you can do is remain persistent and consistent. your body, sadly, determines where you will lose the weight from. spot reducing is a myth. just know if you stay with it, you will dump those unwanted fat cells all over!

I concentrated on doing alot of core exercises, with/without a ball. It was only by doing overall cardio, spin class, I lost my belly. I gained 8lbs and my belly has come back with a veneganace, seems to be the one place it goes back on quickly.

So now I'm back to doing planks, swiss ball planks, side planks and sit-ups. I do other cardio too.

It will take time to shift the belly. Took me a good year, sorry to say. You cannot spot reduce, unfortunately. I would 2nd the opinion of cutting down carbs, I noticed when I stopped eating so much bread in particular, my belly wasn't so bloated and it really helped.

Post pregnancy DVD's are supposed to target that area, after all when you get pregnant its only your tummy that grows!

I'm using Tracy Anderson post pregnancy DVD its mostly floor exercises centered around the core, my tummy has tightened up a bit and looks smaller but I also lost 13" off it from cardio last year and 7 " off waist, but my actual measurements haven't changed for months.

Someone on amazon reviews recommended the Jillian Michaels one to me six week abs or something, (they didn't relaise I was in a wheelchair) as JM does alot of bouncing about usually in her routines I can't do that one, but the person claimed they got better results from that one, if that helps? I'm doing fine with the Tracy Anderson one and she claimed to have been 60lb, and on video doesn't look like she's ever been pregnant!

Other women writing reviews hadn't been pregnant and just used it to lose their muffin top successfully. My muffin top could rest on the top of my thighs.. lol, its now a mini 'one bite' muffin in comparison!

I've heard less carbs and more cardio. They say cardio will help you lose the excess fat, love handles, etc.....I would drop to the weight you're most comfortable with and then start doing ab workouts to build more muscle in that area...such as planks, sit ups, etc...GOOD LUCK!

As others have said look into a a low carb or carb cycling diet. With exercise, you are obviously working very hard. It may be worth refocussing your efforts to an alternative workout which includes weight training as this will be essential in losing body fat. You can also consider interval training for your cardio workouts. These adjustments will make a difference.
