I had PCOS as soon as I hit puberty. My body went through puberty but malfunctioned lol. I started my first cyle in 8th grade however, my doctor said my body hit puberty in 6th grade because in 7th grade I had a HUGE weight gain, I am not talking like a couple pounds either. My throyid wasn't workig, nothing really was working, lol. I have had cysts, hormone inbalance (can't have too much of one but then I have too little of another), and I feel like I should be on bed rest during aunt flow because I am so sick (puking, cramps that cause so much pain). So since then I have struggled with weight, when I was finally diagnosed the weight has been coming off but I still find it a lot harder than some of my friends who don't have PCOS. I am on meds, I exercise 5 times a week (1-2 hours), and I eat healthier but I still find it difficult. :frown: I know I have lost a lot of weight but I still have a lot more to go plus it took a long time to get there, my doctor told me it would be hard but dang what can I do to make it easier.
Long story short what do ya'll do or has helped or doesn't help etc.

I haven't lost as much as you have but I've also not been able to get back on the bandwagon after Christmas. I really paid attention to my calories, stay between 100 and 150 g of carbs a day (most of those I get from fruits and veggies), I do Jillian's 30 day shred with some additional cardio mixed in. When I do eat potatoes it is a sweet potato, rice is brown rice, pasta is whole wheat, and bread is either rye or pumpernickel. I drink tons of water, like 12 or so cups a day. I take amour thyroid, fish oil, prenatal, b100 complex, and an additional folic acid tablet every day. OH! yogurt, my dr told me not to eat flavored yogurts. I have been eating no fat, plain yogurt but recently I've started eating no fat plain yogurt. Every once in a while I'll eat a flavored greek yogurt.0

Well I have been on the bandwagon for over a year now but with PCOS I just struggle with my weight. I take a multivitamin and the necessary meds for PCOS but I don't know if I should be taking more. I have done research but I guess I need to talk to my doctor more.0 -
Are you on metformin? I tried it for 3 or so months. I was so worried when I went off of it all my weight would pile back on and it didn't. I'm trying to remember the diet book I've seen on the PCOS boards. Is it the ultimate PCOS diet workbook or something? Have your dr run some blood work for you.0

Yes I take metformin and birth control, one that doesn't have certain hormones because if I get too much of certain ones it causes me to be fatally sick and/or causes migraines. It is awful but after 2 years of trial and error we finally found one! I will look into the diet workbook thanks!0 -
