Hi I am Lisa
I am pretty new to all of this stuff and I am curious to know how many people actually take their measurements ? I was browsing around here in MFP and I see there is a place to enter your neck, waist, and hips what is the importance of this? Can anyone help me out ?
Thanks
Lisa

I haven't started checking my measurements yet. I think it's more there for people that are at the working out stage in their journey so they can mark the progress they've had, not just in weight.0

Many people see results in inches lost before they see a significant drop in weight. And aren't you really going for a reduction in size rather than weight?0

I take them once a week...
I believe more in measurements than in the scale... when the scale doesn't go down, inches still comes off.0 -
I enter mine waist and neck every two weeks. The Army uses those numbers to calculate bodyfat percentage. Since I came in over weight and bodyfat a few months ago I have to get measured all the time to see how I am doing. It was the people who do this that turned me on to MFP.0

I found it really useful!
I had a couple of weeks where the scale hardly moved and I was getting discouraged, but when I remeasured I had lost inches all over, from waist, hips and thighs. Was great!

I take measurements once a month to see how I am progressing. It's just not the scale that matters, also how many inches you are losing as well.0

I do not track my measurements on MFP but I kinda' wish that I did.
Since I joined I have gone from a 46" waist on my pants to the current 34" (soon to be 32"!!)
I think that the measurements are also a useful tool when we get closer to our goal weight. It appears that some people get within 15 - 20 lbs of their goal weight and then struggle to lose the balance. Part of this issue might be muscle mass gain due to their exercise regime. For me, I have been at pretty much the same weight since just before Christmas. But, my waist has gotten smaller over this time and my arms & chest have gotten larger (added a weights routine to my week when I put my bike away for the winter). So, even though I may have "plateaued" with regards to my weight loss. I am not unhappy or frustrated as I see and feel that I have still improved over the winter months.0 -
I take mine once a month or so. It helps me see progress when the scale isn't moving.0

I take my measurements every week, they give me hope when the scales aren't kind:)0

I want to thank everyone for their input about measurements it has made me think that maybe seeing the whole picture is better than only seeing half0
