Calories Burned using Heart Beat Calculator

Hello myfitnesspal'ers!
I just got me a HRM to use while I walk to make sure I'm in the heart rate zone optimum for burning fat. I've done a bunch of reading on the interwebs about this.

from my understanding, obviously you will burn more calories at a higher intensity. however, my goal is not simply to burn calories. i specifically want to burn fat and not muscle. so, i think that my target heart rate should be between 143 and 162. I got this from the calculator from the above link, but also (from what i've read) my max heart rate should be 220 minus my age of 30 which is 190. multiply that by .75 and you get 143, multiply it by .85 and you get 162 (rounded up).
ok, so my question is:
is there any way to tell if this kind of calculator is accurate?

it seems to quote a lot more calories burned MFP.

The so-called fat burning zone is 60 to 75% of MHR however you derive a very limited cardio benefit at these levels and the bottom line is your still burn more calories from fat by exercising at a higher intensity by virtue of the fact you're burning more calories.
Unless you're going into starvation mode I wouldn't worry about metabolizing muscle tissue.0 -
