Impressive anger management (rant)

Sorry but I had to have a rant.
Yesterday, I walked to work, went to the gym and did an great workout.
Because of this, I had a bucketload of calories left so at work for dinner
I had a small chicken burger, onion rings and a little coleslaw (all WELL
within my calories for the day).
I popped my dinner down and before I even sat down, I guest shouted
over "You're not going to eat ALL that are you?".
Surprisingly, I lost my appitite and it took all the joy out of a well earned dinner.
Because he's a guest, I wasn't able to rip him a new one and tell him to go
and boil his head.
I'm annoyed but more at myself that I let a nasty interfearing old man to make me feel bad.
My co-workers wonder why I dislike eating my dinner in front of people...
Sorry for the rant - It's over now and I feel a bit better for sharing

Oh man that sucks!! How rude of him!! I probably would have just said "Yup" and plugged in headphones or something.0
-
I got up and walked ito the kitchen and ate it in there.
I would never dream of commentint on someones
dinner - except perhaps "that looks nice" or "Enjoy".
I just can't understand anyone would be so rude.0 -
I think you have the right, even if he is a guests, to say something! Nobody has the right to make you feel bad about your food choices regardless if it was in calorie range or not. Some people have no filter. A simple "if you can't say anything nice..." would have been a kind enough comment with still getting your point across. what a jerk!0
-
you have more self control than me! I would have said something at least a little snarky in return!
I'm kind of mean though...:blushing:0 -
I concur you were a lot nicer than I would have been. I am a known smart@$$ and I would have said something that probably would have ended him up in tears0
-
I'm usually a little mean BUT this same guest nearly
managed to get a collegue sacked over what FOOTBALL she
put on it the guest lounge...
Sucking it up and remembering that if he orders beer, he gets
the smaller glasses when I'm on. Little revenges :drinker:0 -
There is NO WAY that I wouldn't have said something.... my mother is a red-head and I inherited the temper. LOL. (Sorry to any redheads I might offend but my daughter has red hair and she has a temper too).0

working with the public... it's tough! Well done for keeping your cool and managing not to say something you would have wound up regretting. It's not food related but the other week I had a customer (i'm a waitress in a hotel) ask me when I was going to get a real job... cheeky old git!0
-
I would have made awkward eye contact with him and stuffed two big onion rings in my mouth.0
-
Could he have just been joking my friends and i do it to each other with comments like " are you going to climb that or eat it" don't let it bother you0
-
It's amazing how rude somepeople are. I had a girl once who wouldn't
believe I went to university 'cause I was working in a cinema at the time.
(I was travelling at the time and looking for some fun, differnt jobs along the way)0 -
Thank you all by the way, I feel better getting it off my chest.
I won't lett it get me down

Only a dumbass would piss off a cook or waitress in a place where they're eating and drinking. Did you add anything to his dinner??0
-
No I haven't. The tight b@st@rd doesn't eat or drink with us.
(He nips to his apartment in half time to get a drink).
The only time he does buy a beer I give him the small edition
'large' glasses we have. He's leaving this week and I hope
he loses all his luggage :laugh:0 -
What a crotchety old man. Kudos to you though for keeping your cool.0

My sympathies, I get it at work all the time. Sat down for lunch with a massive salad for lunch (and it was huge), all 250 calories of it and my co worker said, 'well you're not going to lose weight eating something that size' whilst she tucked into her 2 sandwiches, crisps and chocolate bar. She litterally can't see my food without a comment, my 5:30 snack got 'eating again' today. I just don't know what to say to shut her up! So i'm just waiting till i'm skinny and i'll stick 2 fingers up at her.0

Repeat these words after me
"Go f**k yourself"
Its a life changer
(btw, I'm a nice person however I have learned that until somebody is paying me to eat something, its none of their business to comment on my food)0 -
Oh My goodness!!! There are some really MEAN/Stupid folk about:
At least I'm going to get rid of my horrible old git this week.0 -

Ohhh, paid to eat (mmmm... dribbling on keyboard at the thought)
I'm afraid that for as long as want job, the words above have to stay in my head.
I like your style though x0 -
I think I might have daintily eaten my food with one finger up all fancy like. I'm sure you can guess which finger would be saluting (and it isn't the pinky!)0

It's really interesting to me how insecure people get when the people around them start making positive changes. Just know that she only says those things to make herself feel better because she's threatened. You're going to look amazing and she knows it.0 -

Thank you, this made me smile, a lot0 -
Don't let people like that steal your joy. They don't even realize half the time that they are being insulting. You are worth it and you earned every calorie of that meal! My grandma used to give me backhanded compliements like...you don't look as fat as you used to...it's hard to recover from "insults" or digs when they come from people who you EXPECT to support you. Don't sweat the small stuff and chalk it up to his ignorance and lack of a filter. Be a strong beautiful woman and people will see you as that and soon you will see it in yourself. Don't hide in the kitchen eating your dinner. Maybe next time when this particular guest is over, you should start off the dinner conversation with all the wonderful things you did today all the calories that you have burned and that no one could ever steal your joy! I appreciate a good rant myself and I especially appreciate someone lifting me up in the midst of it. Good luck with your weight loss journey.0
