what to eat before a workout

Just wondering if I need to eat more and what types of food I need to eat before I workout. I am running between 3 - 4 miles on the treadmill at 5 - 6 mph, so it isn't a major workout like I'm sure some of you do. But, if I exercise in the morning I use a lot more calories than I have taken in at that point. I was just wondering if this is hurting me more than it is helping.

    Chilli.. a whole lot of Chilli.

    I'd recommend something easy on the stomach - cheese, peanut butter / toast, etc. Just don't eat a lot. You don't want to feel sick.
