measurement question

In a mens jeans (Levi 506) I wear a 38/34, but when I measured my waist with a tape measured my waist is a 44. A six inch difference makes me think I measured wrong. Stupid question I know, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

No idea!!! Are you measuring as tight as your jeans are? I know I have a habit of *not* measuring as tight. I'd give the tape another go and see.

I don't know about you, but my jeans don't hit anywhere near my waist. Granted, that should mean your waist is smaller than the jeans measurement, not larger.

But more importantly, a size 38 doesn't necessarily mean 38 inches anymore.

I wear a 34x34 in Levi's. My waist is 41 inches and I don't wear them below the gut. After researching online it looks like Levi's adds around 6 inches for American sizes in the waist. Probably a marketing gimmick. You were correct in your measuring.

Most clothing doesn't actually follow waist measurements. It's a ploy to make people feel better about their size (they're more willing to buy when it makes them happy).

The other option is you wear your pants somewhere other than where you measured.
