online personality ~vs~ "in real life"

I was just talking to an online friend of mine and we talked about the differences between someone's online personality and their "in real life" personality - being over the phone or in person.

He had met some that were very outgoing online, yet reserved on the phone (or in person) and vice versa. Which seems odd to me, to be reserved online yet outgoing in person.

So, I ask of you, dear MFPers ... how do you judge ~your~ personality difference? Does your online persona match your "real" one?

me? what you see is what you get. There is not ~one~ thing I would say here that I wouldn't say in person. And my personality matches pretty well. I'm pretty much sarcastic and obnoxious everywhere. ~wink~

I'm pretty much the same, although I don't use the words, slutty, *kitten*, trampsy, hooker or skank nearly as much in real life

    I'm exactly the same.

If you are first meeting me I will be really shy and really quiet until I warm up to you - but once I know you... you better watch out I am out going.. never shut up and am really sarcastic and obnoxious... sometimes I wonder why some of my real life friends keep me around lol

I find it easier to not be as shy online because no one can see me make an *kitten* of myself, I can take my time to write a response and I don't stumble over my words or look at my feet.

I'm the same person online and offline, but I am a bit quieter when conversation is serious. You have to get me really passionate about something to have me go into detail the way I do online.

I'm a bit useless at verbal communication, but the written word is my 'thing'. I'm a writer, and there are times when I want to have a serious conversation or deal with an issue and I'll grab the laptop and type it out because that's easier for me than speaking.

I'm pretty friendly and outgoing online while in real life I am a pretty shy, reserved person.

I am very shy/reserved when I first meet people in real life, although once I know them, I'm the same as I am on here - a pretty balanced blend of brutal honesty, sarcasm, and compassion (although I'm more of a control freak in real life)

I am EXACTLY the same. Except in real life I'm much louder. But don't judge me by my pics, I am not a contortionist.

I'm pretty much the same. Opinionated, sarcastic, inappropriate about 60% of the time, but respectful of other people and their views.

I probably swear more in real life though. Only because you get in trouble for that *kitten* on forums here.

I am mostly the same. There's probably a few subtle differences. I am probably more of a **** online, but I am close friends with people who are exclusively **** bags online and very nice in real life.

I'm an Encyclopedia of useless knowledge in "real" life as well as online. It's awesome.

Once I get past my initial shyness, "in real life" , I'm very much the same.

I do tend to be very reserved until I warm up to people -- I can't expose my whole spectrum of crazy right off the bat -- that'd scare them away.

I'm so different. I like my "real life" personality better. I guess I'm better at it because I "know my audience" in real life as opposed to online.

I may be a little more reserved in real life but I don`t think I am all that different.
Guess some that I have met in person would have to answer that.
