I'm looking for a pasta sauce recipe with fresh/whole food ingredients and a minimum of canned items. Anyone got a good one?

It has a few canned items but it's super yummy!

    Jenn's tomato and vegetable sauce

Aylmer's Accents - Petite Cut Tomatoes With Garlic & Olive Oil, 1 container
Aylmer - Accents Italiens, 1 container
    Chopped Yellow Onion, 1/4 cup
    Fresh Garlic, 3 cloves
    Pure Tomato Paste, 5 Tbsp
Lean Ground Beef, 1/2 cup (100g)
    Baby Cut Carrots, 14.4 carrots (85 g)
    Kale - 100 g
    White Mushrooms - Sliced, 155 g

Brown the Ground beef, meanwhile chop the onion and mince garlic and add to the bottom of slow cooker. Drain meat and add on top of onions and garlic. In a blender, blend the Italian spice tomatoes, Kale and carrots. Add to slow cooker. Add Garlic and Olive oil tomatoes and then the Mushrooms. Put on low for 7-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours. Then add the tomato paste 15 minutes before its done. Enjoy on your favorite pasta!

If you don't have a slow cooker, you can always just simmer on the stove in a big pot for an hour or two.

Oh, and the sauce will look a little on the green side at first, because of the Kale but turns red after the tomatoes and tomato paste :)

This is from the Eat Clean Diet Book. I have not tried it yet but thought it sounded good.

    Spaghetti with Pesto Sauce

    Ingredients
    • 1 lb / 454 g noodles (buckwheat or brown rice noodles)
    • 3 quarts / 3 L water
    • 1 tsp / 5 ml sea salt

    Pesto Ingredients
    • 3 cups / 720 ml fresh basil leaves
    • ½ cup / 120 ml almonds, coarsely chopped
    • ¾ cup / 180 ml parsley
    • 2 cloves garlic, passed through a garlic press
    • ¼ cup / 60 ml extra virgin olive oil
    • Sea salt

    Preparation
    1. Bring water to a rolling boil. Add sea salt. Cook noodles al dente. Rinse under cold water to prevent clumping when cooking is complete. Place cooked noodles in large sauté pan or saucepan. Set aside.
    2. Prepare pesto sauce by placing all ingredients in a food processor. Pulse until ingredients resemble a smooth paste. Scrape pesto out of food processor bowl and pour over cooked noodles. Over medium heat, toss noodles and pesto sauce until heated through. Serve hot
