Any nursing moms?

I'm ready to start losing, I was using weight watchers before and lost 20lbs, my membership expired and I didn't want to pay to do it and I have 10 more lbs to lose, I've been off track since December, but thankfully only put on 5 lbs. WW factors in extra points for nursing moms. I'm just wondering if its worked out for you using MFP and how many extra calories you add to your total. I figure I'd start by adding 500 and if I don't lose I'll adjust downward.
Any tips?

I think it depends how frequently you are nursing. I have a 2 month old so I am nursing 8-10 times a day still. Kellymom.com has some good info. If you have more to lose then you don't need to add as many calories either. I have a LOT to lose so I don't need to allow myself as many extra calories as someone near their ideal weight would.0

In the food database there are multiple entries you can use to count your calories - search under "nursing" or "breastfeeding" - every calorie level is in there from 100 to 600 or so. If you are exclusively nursing, yes 500 is a good place to start. Give it at least a week and see how it goes- it's really individual. Make sure you get more than enough protein too, that will help keep your milk supply up. Good luck!0
