In-laws are SO frustrating...

Just got back from spending a weekend at my in-laws cabin... and I ended up going ridiculously over my calories every day. Not because I overate and binged, but because the food choices are so utterly horrible. It is so frustrating! My husband and I have shared with them our desire to eat healthier and by no means do we expect them to change their eating habits for us, but it is beyond annoying that I can't even make healthy choices for myself when I'm there. If we were to bring our own food, they would almost certainly be offended by that, no joke. We did get to bring the meal for everyone one night, thank god, but I suppose I will just be starting over tomorrow. It's just sad because it's getting to the point where I kind of dread going to visit them because I know that it will mean that I will either have to spend extra time at the gym or not eat much at all when I'm there. Just had to vent....

This is my fear. We are staying at my in-laws for 2 weeks and they don't eat very healthy. I hope they don't feel bad when I put healthy stuff in their fridge but I'm not gaining weight back just because they feel offended.0 -
Do you exercise while you are there? You may want to go for a walk or run and just really try to watch your portion control, thats huge when you have to eat unhealthy... good luck, sorry about your situation!

A slight lactose intolerance or pre-diabetic report from your new doctor (Dr. Bunbury) can go a long way If you have lactose intolerance anything with cream or butter will be out of the question for you and nothing sugary or with ultra carbs if you're pre-diabetic. You could report this sad, but not life-threatening news and insist on not being a burden by bringing a side (which will be your main corse). A lot of adults do become lactose intolerant and most of america is pre-diabetic at this point so it's not a huge stretch.0

Haha that's funny :laugh: Not far from what I tried to do though... I do have elevated triglycerides - not to the point where my doctor is worried, but enough for her to tell me that I have to make healthier choices and exercise more. I have a long family history of high cholesterol and high blood pressure as well. I shared my reasons for healthy eating with them and it had no effect. If they went to get their blood tested, I would be afraid to hear the results! I do get in some walking, etc. while I'm there but it's just frustrating that I have to do so much to counter-act the way that they eat daily :mad:0
