Help! So discouraged! :(

I weighed myself today, this is my first weigh in after my initial. I have GAINED!
I know it's my own fault. I am breaking personal records with consistent treadmill exercise, however, I am not consistently keeping under the recommended calories, and have blown them a few times by more than just a few calories.
I am so discouraged. I'm an all-or-nothing type of person. I have lost weight before, but not in any recommended way. I want to do it right, not by extreme dieting.

It sounds like you already know what you are doing wrong. It doesn't do any good to exercise like mad if you aren't going to eat right.0

Actually its very very common for people to gain a few in the first week or so of changing eating habits or exercising.
Dont give up....your human Just learn from your "mistakes" and move forward....but never give up0 -
Oh dear acrego! Learn from your mistakes & try to fill up on more veggies this week. I tend to get a bit over the top with the gym but I've realised that you need to give yourself chance to recover!
Hope you have better luck next week.0 -
The "record-breaking treadmill work" may be causing you to develop more muscle mass in your legs, which would account for something. However, I agree with the others that you have to control your diet, as well. Are you trying to make too many (and too drastic) changes in your diet too fast? Are you keeping your food diary? Religiously?? That should help you figure out you weak spots and weak moments. Look there, focus in on one or two. Don't think of this as an "all-or-nothing" kind of thing (I know that's hard). Sometimes you just have to start off gradually, taking one or two steps at a time. Remember, it's not just a "diet." It's changing your habits and lifestyle - that comes with time and persistence. You're going to make mistakes - we all do. But like another poster said, learn from them, don't use them as a guilt trip!0

Get up and try again! As the others have said, it's not uncommon to gain weight with exercise. Personally I have struggled to find a balance between lowering my calories and upping my exercise schedule, but it seems we just have to learn as we go. Totally frustrating, but until we learn, we won't understand the changes we need to make.
Keep up the exercise, it's good on so many levels. Now battle the food intake You can do it! Tomorrow is another day, think forward to what you want to achieve for the longer term goals. Hope you are feeling a bit re-motivated!0 -
It could be muscle gain from ur treadmil workout. Try eating more fiber and whole wheats. Can be more filing and stay with you longer through your day. Dont give up though. It has its hard times but the results are well worth it in the end!!0

Thank you all for responding... sorry it's been several days since I have been on here. It really does help knowing people are here, rooting for me, making suggestions.
I am pretty sure my gain is not from muscle... the flab bulging out of my pants has not changed one bit!
But this is a new week, I am tracking every morsel of food that goes into my mouth, and so far I have not gone over. My food diary is open to friends, so feel free to spy on me!
Maybe this week will be better!
XOXOXOXOXOXO
