What's harder - the first twenty pounds or the next twenty?

I'm so excited - I've lost almost 20 pounds. By next week, I should be there! But it took a lot of time and focus in order to do it. I feel awesome about it, but I almost feel a bit complacent.

I can't decide if the hard part is over, or if the hard part has yet to come. What do you think?

It's not the first 20, or the next 20...it's the last 20! I'm so stuck right now and it's bugging the crap out of me :explode:

the last 3. I've been as close as 1/2 lb., but can't seem to get there and hold it. It's been months bouncing up and down 3. oh well, I'm not complaining.

It gets progressively harder as you go.

Usually the last 20 . Most people can drop 10-20 lbs in a matter of a few weeks with minor effort. But getting that last bit off to really look how you want to look usually take 10x longer and requires dedication to what you're doing. Not trying to break anyone's hopes and dreams, but I think just about everyone will testify to the scale moving a lot slower/stopping for long periods of time.\

I'm no longer measuring good weeks in whole pounds, If I can drop 0.2-0.5 of a lb, I'm pretty happy. I also don't think my goal weight is realistic with me lifting weights and on a higher calorie diet. I'll get in shape and look good, but the number on the scale isn't moving much lately.

It's not a big deal, it's just the nature of the beast. When you're very overweight, fat just falls off of you. As you get closer to your goal weight your body wants to hold onto the fat reserves harder and harder. For me the first 20 I didn't even really have to try for. The second 20 was a joke. It started getting harder after that (fat loss rate has about halved at this point), I'm about to hit 60 (currently at 56). I'm sure the last 20 is going to be a nightmare. It's only natural. Just takes time.

I was going to say I am worried about the last twenty, particularly the last 10. It will mean reaching a weight that I haven't been since I was in my 20s.

I started with 60# to lose, and lost the first 20 pretty easy. This middle 20 seems to have a death grip on me!!!

For me the first 5 sets of 20 were easy to lose, the next 2 sets of 20 were harder and the last 20 has been really tough.

Definitely the last 20, but trust me it's worth it!
Don't give up, and keep going when you hit the plateau, because you will. For awhile you won't see any loss, but your body will still be changing and adjusting, then you might start to lose more again.

It gets harder as you go, the less you weigh the more effort it takes to burn the same amount of calories. It's totally worth it though.
