I am looking at buying a HRM, however the ones which everyone goes on about being brilliant are too expensive for me at the moment. I only really want to it see how many calories I have burned whilst exercising. Can anybody recommend a good one between £10-£25? xxx

    i got one for £5 on ebay! might be crap but i'll gice it a go for £5! i hear argos sell them for £30ish also :)

    I bought this little beauty about a month ago, and I do recommend it for cardio exercise. Mine has been accurate for aerobics, running, cycling, but it slipped up for the first time today (I think) when I was walking.

    For £12, I'd really recommend it, and I'll be walking again later today so will let you know if it sorts itself out:

    If you can't find one you like straight away, keep an eye on Lidl. They quite often do sports products and I managed to get my Crivitt HRM there for £15.

    Regarding mine and my earlier issue, I've worked it out and just wanted to update in case anyone finds the thread and considers it in future. The reason it went crazy on me is that it only measures for 30 minutes and then re-sets the calorie counter. So, when I was doing my 50 minute walk to work it re-set after 30 minutes and I ended up only seeing the calories burned for the final 20. Lesson learnt!

    This thread is so handy, thanks! I'd fully intended on treating myself to a Polar FT7 after getting to my first mini goal, but I think I'm just going to buy the lloyds one now and see how it does :).

    I'll vouch for the Lloyds one, I tried it for the first time last night and it's very accurate and comfortable

    One of my MFP friends has just posted that Lidl are doing one for £14.99 from Monday the 12th, it is one with a chest strap so should be accurate. Google it hon.

    Tesco do a basic one in their fitness section that's £13 so do lloyds pharmacy :)

    I don't know if i should purchase the Lloyds HRM or the Lidl one, both are near me! arghh.


    Any pros and cons? is the Lidl waterproof?

    Indeed. Struggled with it for walking on Monday, but I've got it sorted now and it turns out I've been burning 200 more calories on days when I walk than I thought I was. Endomondo and MFP have been pretty much dead on in agreement with my HRM for other activities, but they're way off for walking and both too low.

    Personally I've found it to be great. Don't think it's suitable for swimming but it seems to do everything else! :happy:

    I just purchased the Lloyds one and waiting for it arrive. Looking forward to using it.... I am also going to save up for a better one, but the Lloyds one should do for now. And you never know, it may be good enough not to buy a more expensive one :smile:

    I went to the doctor yesterday as my average hr on a 7 mile run was 170, he told me I was just un-fit so keep it in mind if you think it goes a bit high. I have been running on and off for a year last 6 month I have been stepping up to 8:20 min miles just keep it up and don't forget to stretch.

    Think i've made my mind up! i shall be purchasing the HRM from Lidl on the weekend 14.99 is cheap & seem to be better spec so will see anyways! experiment it and what not.
