Need help!

I need help. I have been 30 pounds overweight for 10 years. It doesn't sound like much but I am only 5' tall. I am at the midpoint of my life and very depressed. I am no longer attractive, or feel that way, I don't look good in any clothes, and I don't have any energy. I work at a school and having summers off I can stick to my exercise and diet plan, but once school starts all of that dwindles away. We are expected at our school to have two extra curriculars which will make our school day last from 7:30am to sometimes 10:30 at night. I do not live in a big town, I live in the country and don't have access to a close fitness facility. When Lent started, I gave up eating between meals. I eat healthy, low fat meals. I made time to walk at least 30 minutes a day (no small feat). For my efforts so far, I GAINED 1 and one half pounds. I don't know what else to do! I cry and threaten to stop eating altogether. Obviously food is NOT my friend. I just need someone who understands what I am going through. All of my friends are at least 10 years younger than I am and certainly not having my experiences. I am trying to "get real" about what I eat and have found some things that I got honest about and made those changes. So far, though, no payoff. Can anyone help me?

I am in the same spot as you. I am 54, 5' 1" barely and 30 pounds overweight. I joined a gym in October and hired a personal trainer. She looked at my food log and said I need to eat more, I didn't agree but tried her way and for that I gained 15 pounds in 2 months. I am back trying to eat 1200 a day and running every other day training for a 5k in May with a girlfriend. It's hard to run when overweight, but I am forcing myself to do it, at home on my treadmill, because I am too embarassed to go back to the gym!0

I know for me, before I started tracking things, I would eat a lot of extra calories just eating a bite or two of things here and there. And also, drinking water seems to help too. The more you drink, the better. Keep at it though, if you keep exercising every day and watching your calories, it will come off! Good luck!0

Haven't weighed in yet...not until next Monday but when I ran this morning I felt so much energy. If you want to investigate start with marksdailyapple.com. Also, I am happy for friends my age...up to you! Best of luck! Hang in there.0

I completely understand. I am 37 yrs old and started this really back in october 2011. I lost 10 lbs rather quickly. Then I halted losing. I didn't start losing again until 3 weeks ago. So far I have only lost 3 lbs. Just a .5 lb last week. That was after increasing my workouts and lowering my calorie intake. It was very frustrating to only see a half pound on the scale. But I did notice an inch lost over my total body measurements. So that helped. Are you doing your measurements and weighing in only once a week? Are you doing it at the same time each week? I do mine on Monday mornings when I first get up. Weighing yourself too often can be very discouraging. Also, take into account how your clothes are fitting. Is your family supportive? I know this helps me. I don't have a gym close to me either. But I do have a treadmill, some hand weights, an exercise mat and an exercise ball that I use at home. I also sometimes use the kids' WII and do the WII fit program. That keeps me from getting bored with working out.
Feel free to add me!! I always leave comments and support. Plus send me a message anytime you need to chat or a boost! I know it helps having someone that understands to talk to.0
