Help me pick out a dress for...
I need your help! I am having a tough time finding a dress for a wedding this May (I am close family) and have it so I can use it for my college graduation/party. It needs to be knee length and I was thinking color black. I have a slender frame but wide hips and I am 5ft 9. Lets see some ideas!

Do you have a Charlotte Russe or Forever21 near you?0

This may sound cheesy, but try David's bridal. They have some really fun dresses that can be worn again. I was in a wedding back in November and ours came from there...It is a fun dress and it has pockets0

Maybe something like this:

Or this (I like this one best)

I like the chiffon JCrew dresses in their wedding collection, but they are a little more expensive than your budget.0

TJ Max or Marshalls for a Tahari or Calvin Klein dress they cost about $39.99 to $69.99 and worth the hassel to look. They are classic and they normally go for $120 to $150.0

I like this one, and the blocking on it slims out the wearer and lengthens them:

However, hit up tjmaxx and kohl's. The fabulous thing about the right little black dress is that you can buy accessories to go with it for any occassion. The right belt and matching shoes can really change the look of your lbd. If you already have one in your closet go pick up some really cool accessories (bright patten "pleather" or bling tastic belt and matching shoes with even appropriate either chunk or demure jewlrey) instead of yet another lbd.0 -
There is a website that one of my co-worker uses - www.lightinthebox.com - click on "weddings and events" on the top left then you can select the type of dress you want. When you find one, there is a check box in the "order" section, you can put in your customer measurements for an extra $30. The dresses are pretty cheap so she doesn't feel guilty to spend the extra money on the custom fit.
Just a side note, she ordered off this website 2x's and was completely satisfied with the dresses. She said they are very well made, fit just right and arrive within 2-3 weeks (with the custom fit). You can also get shoes and stuff too...
Good luck dress shopping!0 -
Hi Wowamom,
I don't know what size you are so I can't really recommend any specific dress but I would suggest that you try shopping online at macys.com. They have many beautiful dresses for all sizes and budgets. I buy dresses from them often and have found many good choices. Good luck and I hope you find a beautiful dress for the wedding.

I like dresses from Le chateau. They have these tricks (folds, wrinkles, etc.) strategically placed that always give a very flattering look.

You want a black dress but try some other colours as well, you may be positively surprised and if not, you will only confirm your first thought.0 -

Thanks so much everyone, for the the replies! I have fallen in love with modcloth! The dresses aren't very expensive. I totally forgot about jcrew. thanks for that suggestion. Do you think this is good for graduation with a pair of flats? http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/rally-the-loops-dress?view=reviews0

I LOVE ModCloth too. Yep, that dress is super cute. I happen to wear everything with heels (that dress would look great with a pair of wedges, for example) but I can see it being nice with flats. Flats tend not to work on me at all, for some reason.
You will look gorgeous!0
