Knees; what’s the best way to protect them while working-o

I’ve inherited bad joints from both my mom and dad. The knees are by far the worst. Today, while working out I dislocated my knee… again. I’ve learned to extend the leg, push the knee cap, expect the terrible sharp pain, and wait for the pop. It hurts like hell, but the pain stops soon after.
Thing is… I’m tired of babying it. I use to wrap it, but found I never got it right. (Too tight, not tight enough…) Athletic tape worked well, but it’s not cheap when you use it daily. I’ve never tried a sleeve, and the ones I’m finding aren’t cheap.

Has anyone used them with any success? Would love any suggestions.

*Even started back on my Glucosamine & Chondroitin with MSM pills. <sigh> I hate pills. :(

Thinking of adding "Cheating", "Why do men (or women)" or possibly just "Sex" to the thread title. Maybe I could get some help then. ;)

In addition to the wall post, you could try the liquid glu/chon combo. I drink mine in my protein shake. Check out your calcium intake as well. Supps take time to work...weeks sometimes.

    Is swimming an option?

I do not have an answer for you, but I also have bad knee joints.
I modify excerises that are high impact. I am interested to see if anyone else posts here with advice.

    HAHA ^

Go talk to a doctor, no one here is qualified enough to tell you how to work out unless they've seen x-rays, your knee joint etc etc etc

We covered this on her wall, except the laughter.

Doc says surgery. Not an option right now. He suggested the knee wrap, but as mentioned before it's becoming a nuisance. I was wondering if the sleeve has worked for others and if joint supplements have helped.

Wasn't laughing at dzmikki, was laughing at OP saying she needs to make her topic of controversial so she can get responses.
