Did the Olivia method this week. Based on my calculations, I should have lost 1.35lbs. Instead I gained .8. It is day 7 of my period but it's basically over.

I have been doing ALL the right things but to see a gain instead of a loss after a week of working hard...well - I just want to eat whatever the hell I want.

HELP!

Is there a link to the Olivia method?

Eating what you want won't suddenly make it all better, but keeping to it will, eventually. Our bodies don't always do what our minds think we should. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and keep moving forward.

I gain over 5 plus pounds during my TOM, unually takes about a week after for it normalize again. I just simply stopped weighing myself during that week, so discouraging!!!!

Wow...OK...so maybe by next weigh in...so discouraging! I definitely want to eat...but clearly that is the wrong way to handle the situation!

I haven't researched the Olivia Method yet, but I have been exercising and eating well (though too many calories as I'm always STARVING) and I, too, have gained weight in the last week! I agree: it is extremely frustrating!!! But I've seen so many postings of people who went through this as well - either small weight gains or else long plateaus with no loss at all - and when they stuck to the plan of eating well and exercising, they all said that eventually the weight started to come off and it was totally worth it.
So yes, I had a big piece of homemade gourmet dark chocolate today and enjoyed every bit of it. But I stopped at that b/c I want to see positive results!!! Stick to it, still enjoy life and Good luck!

I can never understand the logic behind posts of this nature. You gained a little weight, which is most likely just water, and the response you feel is appropriate is to try and gain even more?? It makes no sense to me.

The scale can be a liar sometimes (at least, that's what I like to think when I've had a gain). Try taking your measurements or just throw out this week's # and go with next week's. It's okay.

Thanks! A friend is taking me out for a fancy sushi dinner tonight so I'm trying to save almost all my calories tll then - so that's making this that much harder!!!!

Don't give up!! Just make sure you are only weighing in once a week. I have a hard time with weighing every day and I jump like that daily.

Yep, it sucks. No doubt about it. But . . . 0.8 could be accounted for with water weight easily. Give it a little time.

I've been cycling the same 3 pounds for a while now but this past week quit diet sodas and dropped about 5 pounds (obviously mostly water weight) so apparently I had lost fat over the "time of total frustration" but water weight was not letting me see my loss. Plus, its good to add that after Day 1 with no diet soda I gained 0.8 lbs, but the next day the scale was down 4 lbs!!! I thought the thing was messing up and replaced the battery LOL. There is just no reasoning with the scale!!

Also though, and this is what motivated me to FINALLY quit my diet soda and start drinking mostly water, I knew that I had only 2 options . . . go backward and GAIN more of this weight I'm desperately trying to lose or JUST KEEP GOING FORWARD.

I dont' feel the response is appropriate...that's why I'm posting for here...for support and words of reason. I recognize that my impulse to eat after a disappointment is WRONG.

Remember all you can controll is what you put in your mouth and do with your body. I just got off a long plateau. It happens. Just hang in there and remember you are doing all the right things.

It's been said a million times:

    Weight loss isn't linear.

We would all like it to be perfect and fit into all of the calculations we do, but it just isn't. Remember- you need to look at the long term trend (I know easier said than done)...

I understand your frustration. I weigh in on Friday's and when I stepped on the scale this past week I was up 3lbs and I know I stayed within my calorie ranges and exercised and nowhere near ate enough to gain 3lbs. I was so frustrated I cried. It was in the middle of my cycle but I totally didn't see that coming. It appears I hold on to water in the middle of the month and around that TOM! However, I'm still gonna keep on doing the right thing because I know it will come off eventually. You have a huge advantage in that you're younger than me and younger people lose easier. So stick with it. You'll lose if you stay consistent.

Thanks to everyone that responded! Your reminders and words of encouragement helped me feel connected and have helped me stay on track. Since a friend of mine is taking me out for a fancy sushi dinner, I decided to save most of my calories for that. I won't have any extra but I DIDN'T BINGE...and that is a miracle!

Sugar-free raspberry jello has helped with needing something sweet in my mouth and I'm just a mere hour or so away from grabbing a banana before my 6pm workout. As long as I can make it to that - then I'm in the clear as I've already estimated my calories for tonight.

    Thanks for your help!
