Hey everyone,
So I've been very regular with tracking my food, working out at least 4-5 times a week and killing myself for that 1-1.5 hours in the gym doing Body pump classes, Kickboxing, and step.
I did lose about 3.5 kgs (approx 7 pounds) and that's it. Since the past 3-3.5 weeks there has been absolutely NO weight loss. Maybe a pound here and there but if I lose it, it comes right back the next day.
This morning I weighed myself, and again there was no change. An increase by a pound in fact.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have been reading everyone's discussions here and have been eating back my exercise calories, switching up my workout from step to kickboxing to something else, and even started lifting heavier weights this week.
I have definitely lost inches though.
I read that the plateau period only comes after a huge weight loss. How can my body plateau only after losing 3.5 kgs?
I'm so demotivated to hit the gym again. It makes me feel amazing of course, but I just want to drop another 6 kgs, and I just don't see it happening :(
Please advice.

quit weighing yourself with the scale, and measure yourself instead. Maybe your replacing fat w/ muscle. 5lbs of fat weighs the same as 5lbs of muscle, however muscle takes up a whole lot less space. If your clothes are fitting better then your still on the right track:)

If you're losing inches but not pounds and working out at the gym you are most likely losing body fat and gaining muscle. Muscle is more dense than fat so, while you may weight the same, you are actually losing body fat. Ignore the scale for a while and just focus on losing those inches.

If you're losing inches, then you are losing! If you're really doing all of that exercise, you may be gaining muscle. Just keep at it. What do you have to lose, except the fat? :)

I'm with Teelymm35! Sounds like you're repalcing fat with muscle. The scale is not moving but the measurements are. =)

If you open your food diary to "public" it would be easier to give advice, but I just wanted to say that the EXACT same thing happened to me. I lost about 5 lbs, and then for about 3 months NOTHING. It SUCKED. It was a really frustrating plateau. To get out of it, I sometimes just stopped logging food for a few days, and just tried to eat healthy, and switched up my workouts. Normally I like to run, but I tried the bike sometimes instead.

Hope that helps you, but it helps to know that this happens to a LOT of people, and you will eventually get out of it! Just don't quit. If I had quit within those 3 months, I probably would have just gained weight. At least for the most part, I was staying the same weight, and then eventually I started losing again. I kind of think that it just takes some time for your body to adjust, mine sort of freaked out on me bc it thought I was starving it or something, lol.

I think you need to take your focus off the number on the scale.

If you are losing inches, it means the gym and your nutrition is working, and it is highly likely you are gaining muscle (which weighs more than fat) and are therefore not seeing any difference on the scale.

To ease your mind it might be a good idea to get a personal trainer at the gym to assess you bodyfat percentage, and use that and inches lost to gauge your progress.

And at the end of the day you know that the gym makes you feel great, and that is the best reason to keep going!

    Hope thi shelps.

I went back about 2 weeks and there are several days you are way over your calorie intake. Are you exercising on those days and just not logging it? Also what about your sodium intake? You may want to watch that.

There were a few days I ate a lot more than my intake. But will definitely watch that. Thanks a lot :)
