k-cal vs calories

I have just bought a new pedometer and it uses k-cal instead of calories burned. Does anyone know how many calories i burned if it says 35 k-cal

They are the same. The k-cal is the proper name. It consists of 1000 calories more commonly known as small calories which is a unit to measure how much energy is require to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree Celsius.0
