Is my diet plan too much?

Hi all, my name is Stavros, I am almost 28 and I joined MFP a month ago. I am 1.94 and when I joined I was 140 kg (6'4'' and 308 lbs).
I joined because I decided I wanted to start a healthier lifestyle, and cut down my food.
Thus, I set my calorie goal to 2100 per day (aiming to loose 2 lbs/week) , and start going to gym 3/week (cardio + weights).

My workout program is consisted of 30 minutes cardio + 60 minutes of muscle training. Also, most of the days I am walking around 60-90 minutes. My diet is not strict, I log everything I am eating with MFP and try not pass the limit of calories and total fat. I love fruits, so I added small fruit "meals" between the normal big meals, and I have kind of limited snacks to zero.

However, my metabolism has "changed" kind of fast, and I am loosing steadily 3.5 lbs/ week.
After 4 weeks, of this, I have decreased the calorie target to 2040, and even so... I cannot say I am feeling hungry.
Most of the days I am not even reaching this target, and my body is happy enough even with 1800 or less calories. I am feeling kind of hungry only the days I go for some heavy group exercise.

Is it something I am doing wrong? Should I try to decrease my weight loss, as long as the suggested one is 2 lbs per week or less?

  • Sounds to me like you're doing great!!! I dont' see a problem with losing 3lbs/week, you had a high starting weight.

I agree the only thing I would do it increase your calories on your heavy exercise days. Otherwise looks good to me.

Congrats on the losses so far. If you're worried about the rapid losses, you have to figure out how to up your calories! Make sure you get plenty of protein the day before a workout and immediately following. It will help with the recovery. Don't worry too much about your fat intake, as it can give you more calories. Go for full fat milk, it's only 4% milkfat anyway. Use the oil-rich salad dressings, especially those based in mostly olive oil. Great fats there. Make friends with avocado. Just to help you increase those calories!

I try to eat my dinner ~2 hours before a heavy cardio exercise (boxing for example), so I will have enough energy, otherwise I am totally dead after 30 minutes of cardio. After the workout, except that it's kind of late, it's enough for me to eat something light, like a yogurt. Of course, I log also my cardio in MFP, so the calorie count is increasing, however I am not always feeling the need to consume an additional full meal :)

I think you're doing great! When you have more to lose, it comes off more quickly at first.
