Exercise causing breakouts?

I'm very lucky in that I have great skin. I've never really had bad breakouts, just the occasional zit here and there...but about a week ago, I increased the intensity on my exercise routine. Suddenly, my skin has broken out across my nose and cheeks. It's highly embarrassing, my cheeks are constantly bright pink, and it hurts to touch in some places.
Has anybody else had a bad breakout after increasing the intensity of your workouts?

I had breakouts when I first altered my diet (I think because of the boost to my immune system) but they went away really quickly. Exercise also boosts immune response so I guess it could, although when I started working out I didn't experience any.
If it's just red and/or sensitive and not actual zits then it could be an allergic reaction to something, or even just a rosacea response to cold weather etc. Maybe examine what else you've come into contact with over the past couple of weeks that might be different from your usual (cleaning sprays at the gym? new foods? etc.)0 -

I'm on week two of a new routine and totally broke out. I'm hoping as I get into my routine and working out becomes a little more normal everything will even out.0

I just thought that with my sweat pouring down my face my pores were becoming more clogged with gunk. haha I noticed that I break out sometimes after a good workout too.0

i started to break out a lot more on my chest. I've been fighting it by showering as soon as possible after working out, maybe that will work with your face? bring some face wipes to the gym so that the sweat won't stay on your face?0

hehe I've noticed some pimples on my chest (between my breasts) Since starting exercising, I'm thinking likely the sweat causes it.0

Happened to me when I first started REALLY working out last summer. My face got all bumpy! I panicked at first, but figured it was normal since my body is changing. I did a light face scrub after working out with just warm water and baking soda and it went away within a couple days.0

Are you wearing makeup when you work out? If you are, maybe try taking it off before you work out and see if that solves the problem - it could be clogging your pores.
Also - someone mentioned that they started breaking out on their chest/breasts - the same thing happened to me and I was told to apply deodorant to that area before a workout and it would minimize the sweat which causes breakouts, and I hardly ever get them anymore! So give that a try and see if it works for you0 -

That's a good idea...I work out at home, so that will be even easier! I shower after my workouts, but I only wash my face with cleanser in the mornings, so...maybe I should try washing right after my workouts as well.0 -
