True or False?

"And that children's weight is by no means a predictor of health?"
"And that those people with higher percentages of subcutaneous fat and higher BMIs (25-30 range) actually have a lower risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer?"
"And that those who "diet" to result in a 5-15% weight loss actually have a 260% increase in earlier mortality?"
These are three statements in one of the comments to the blog post found here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/gwenn-okeeffe/disney-habit-heroes_b_1314401.html
There were no references to studies so I'm wondering where these facts came from. I'm especially surprised at the third statement. Why would losing weight lead to earlier mortality? Is it because those people often gain the weight back and more? Or is it because they were overweight for such a long time that the reduction in weight wouldn't have an effect?
I just wanted some input and to see if anyone else had heard statements like these.

She also stated:
"So let's focus on health promotion, not obesity prevention. Because research certainly indicates that a weight-based approach does not result in health improvements--yet it does result in weight gain and an increase in eating disorders."
I think her agenda is fat acceptance.
There are people like Dr. Glen Gaesser who wrote "Big Fat Lies" that think obesity and health are not related. Sure he has cherry-picked some studies to support his case.
I'd say False.0 -
I don't know facts but throughout my life I have seen that these illnesses are random in who has them. I have seen very obese with no actual health issues (maybe they didn't ever go to the doctor)...I have seen non-smokers end up with lung cancer, my grandfather was in great shape but because of trauma (burned in a corn picker) he developed diabetes - my father, not in such great shape, not morbidly obese but definately overweight and he has had blockages and has developed diabetes. I really think it has to do with each bodies make up and how that make up responds to its surroundings. I do feel that when you have to use a motorized cart to go grocery shopping because your legs can no longer carry your weight...you could be signing a death certificate though.0
