So I've been wondering: Is it possible to loose some off the waistline and still weigh the same? I think this might have happened to me....
Thanks guys!

Yes, many times as fat is replaced by muscle, your waist will shrink while you weight the same. This is because it takes less muscle to equal a pound as fat.0

Yes, it's because you are developing muscle. They weigh the same but the muscle is sleek and far is not. Congratulations! Keep track of your measurements as well as your weight.0

It is all about gaining muscle and losing fat... Don't watch the number on the scale because it can be very misleading.
I read an article once that joked that if you really want to lose weight fast they can always chop off a leg or an arm :laugh:0 -
Yes, Have you been measuring if not you should...I have lost at least an inch or more on my waist, thighs, arms, and hips...and only lost 5lbs....My friend has lost almost 10 lbs but not really inches, sooo measuring is a GREAT thing!0

I've been meaning to start measure but I don't have a measuring tape and aways forget to pick one up at the store. This is a good reminder! Thanks everyone0

I dropped 5cm off the waist and only 0.3kg off the scales one week and it really freaked me out!!!0

A quick google search will produce many articles on the subject, including this:

Bottom line, yes, you can lose inches while not seeing a corresponding drop on the scale. Two other facts:
As stated in this thread, muscle does not replace fat. Muscle cells and fat cells are two different things and one cannot replace the other.
Unless you are doing pretty hard core weight training and eating at a caloric surplus, you are not gaining a substantial amount of muscle.0 -
Yes, ma'am. Last year I was 125 and trhis year I am 130 and *appear* to have lost a lot of weight, when in fact I gained weight and lost body fat.0

So good to read this.. I have lost weight but for the past few weeks it hasn't been much but I can still see that my Clothes fit completly different i was thinking it was inches, i haven't measured in awhile though. Thanks!:happy:0

This happened to me recently. I lost 2 inches off my waist (7.5 off body total) in a month and the scale barely moved all month. I get discouraged sometimes just looking at the scale but taking my measurements always make up for it. I'm not sure if you do take measurements but I would strongly suggest doing them every month or every few weeks.0

Yes! I lost an inch from my hips the last time I measured, but didn't lose a pound. I bet you have lost several inches since you started! Measure Katie. It totally makes me feel better when the scale doesn't move, but if the tape measure is smaller, you still win!0
