This will be my third full week of going to the gym five days a week. I've been getting in anywhere from 10-30 mins or more of cardio and the rest of the time i've been doing strength training (five days a week). I'd estimate that on most days i've done atleast 30 mins of strength training if not more. My calorie goal at one point i had set to 1400 a day but due to not seeing a change in the scale i decided to drop the amount of calories to what MFPrecommended which is 1240 (I dropped it to 1240 the week i started weight training). This will be my third full week of having my calorie intake set at 1240. Still no change on the scale but that could be due to several things such as my muscle retaining water due to it trying to heal itself or something along those lines lol, (something i read). My biggest question though is...Do yall think that i should keep my calorie goal at 1240 or should i up it since i'm doing weight training now???

***Sorry if i come off sounding like an idiot :/

Are you eating exercise calories back?

If so, it should be fine. Personally though, I don't think that low calorie goal is "necessary" to lose weight, and you'll probably keep more of your muscle on a smaller deficit than you would on 1240.

If you're not eating back exercise calories, then that's too little and you need to up them because the net calories will be too low.

I typically eat back most of my exercise calories. Is it true that if i'm going to stick with a goal of 1240 that i should net 1240 at the end of the day after my exercise and all?

Yes, if MFP gives you a goal of 1240 that should be your net goal, as MFP doesn't take into account workouts.

IF you have a chance to get a medabolic test done I would recomend that. I got mine done at the nutritionist office and it turns out that I have a high metabolism.. If I were to eat even 1600 claories I would be starving myself. So if you ahve even a normal metaboism but on the higher end of normal you are not eating enough.
I would suggest trying to up your calories.. the more muscle you have will raise your metaboism.

    Hope that helps! Good luck!
