I'm just trying to get a better understanding of what a BMR should be/is.. I mean.. different sites give me different numbers. I am 5.4, 135 lbs, 36 years old.. On average I get a BMR of 1365. Does that sound right?

And also, most say you should at least eat your BMR in calories? Sound right? so I have up'd my cal intake from the 1200 this site suggest to 1360ish now. Just wanna get yalls thoughts.. And what is yours?

Mine is 1530....my understanding is that the difference of your bmr and caloric intake is what you'll essentially be burning every day.

Your BMR is not to be confused with your TDE.

BMR - Basal metabolic rate - is the number of calories you need to survive. This includes breathing, digestion, and sleeping. It does not include actually getting out of the bed or moving your body or even being awake.

TDE - Total daily expenditure - is basically your BMR plus any exercise, moving around, getting dressed, taking a shower, preparing your food, being awake and functional all day...

So no, I wouldn't go below my BMR unless a doctor told me it was ok. I would want to eat somewhere between my BMR and my TDE.

ty but no I wasnt confusing it.., just asking and curious to what everyone else looks like..

Also MFP suggest to do 1200 cal intake but what you just said and most other sites say is to eat at least BMR cal,.. is why I got confused.
