Nude Maternity Photos?
They seem to be all the rage lately, especially after the Jessica Simpson shoot...
While I agree that pregnancy is a beautiful thing, and I can totally understand a couple wanting to have a few done for their own personal collection. It is still awkward to come across a photo of your co-worker completely nude with only hands over her lady parts coming across your mini-feed on facebook. I feel like as a general rule, if you feel that it would be too inappropriate of a picture for you to post if you weren't pregnant, then it is still an inappropriate picture to post once you are pregnant.
Thoughts...?

Agree with you all the way. If you wouldn't put up pics of yourslef like that otherwise why would a baby belly make it ok?0

Well, for models and celebrities it's a LITTLE different. I mean, we've all seen Jessica Simpson in her underwear before, so it's not like it's a big deal. If Jessica Simpson or Britney Spears or whoever worked in an office instead of in celebrity world, I don't think there would be naked pics of them up on the wall or anything.
I wouldn't put a picture of myself in a bikini in my office, but I'd show it to my friends and family. I think the body is beautiful, I'm all about celebrating it0 -
I think the female body is gorgeous. So whether pregnant or not, if the pictures are done in a tasteful way, they should be shown if the "model" chooses to. Obviously though, there are a time and a place.0

Some people would be okay with those type of photos even if they weren't pregnant. And those are the people who usually are most comfortable with the nude maternity shots.
Personally, I would definitely get nude maternity photos taken but not post on Facebook (depending on how the photo is composed and how much showed) but I think nude photography can be very tasteful.0 -
I feel that this thread title is false advertising!0

I really don't get them. I think it's weird. What's the point? I understand taking maternity photos but why would you take all your clothes off to do it? I just don't get it. Especially the ones with the husband behind her holding her boobs lol... Ahhh... So weird. But whatever. No offense to anyone who has done this! I just don't see the appeal.0

The female body is beautiful .. more so when they are holding another life inside it. I've did a semi nude maternity shoot when I was about to pop. The only thing I have covering me is some material around my boobs and lady part. My family has seen it and have never had a problem with it.
There's a big difference between a 9 month pregnant woman posing with her belly out (because the belly is suppose to be the focus) ... and a regular non pregnant girl.0 -

Those are my favourites. I'd do shots like that rather than me just covering my lady bits. Heck, those are my favorite nude photos in general (fabric covering the basic "naughty bits" or shadows covering)0 -
I can see the artistic value in Nude photos too... It's not really my personal preferance, but I can appreciate the artistic style... I just think that they need to be a little more private than what they really are... people should know that what they are going to be looking at may contain nude photos so they can make the decision whether they want to see them or not... I'm ok with like the Jessica Simpson photo being in the magizine, but not on the cover... I don't have any kids, but if I did and we were in the supermarket and there was a nude photo of a woman right there at the check out isle... that is not a something I would want to have to explain to my kids.
Also with facebook... If people want to get them for their own personal collection or if they choose to share them with their family or friends only that is their choice, but when they don't change the security settings, and EVERYONE can see them... It is very awkward to be scrolling along in your mini-feed and see a nude photo of one of your co-workers, or someone you know from church, without any warning.0 -

I agree. There's a time and place to be showing your nude photos, pregnant or not.
I haven't seen this Jessica Simpson picture so I just looked it up and also agree that I don't think that should be a cover. I personally don't like seeing that stuff in supermarkets and stuff. I mean if I were to open the magazine and see that picture I would think it's beautiful..0 -

That's incredibly strange.
I personally do not understand people who post pictures of themselves naked or half naked or naked but with their hands covering certain parts, etc. on the internet because once it's on the internet it's never going away and you do not know where it will end up or who will see it.
It's like people don't think before they do crap.0 -
Personally, it's not my thing. I totally understand the artistic value of any nude picture, but I don't think that is the most common reason people get maternity photos. In my mind, you're taking the pictures to rememeber a beautiful time in your life. But the baby comes out...would you really show such a picture to your child? I would be scarred for life if my mom showed me a maternity picture of her/me like that. :noway:0
