Just wondering if anyone makes their own salad dressing and what kind it is. Thanks!

  • 1/2 teaspoon of mayo 1/2 teaspoon of ketchup high in fat but low in calories
  • I make my own raspberry vinaigrette using:

    Equal parts rice vinegar (or salad vinegar), olive oil, raspberry syrup and add a dash of poppy seeds. I purchased the raspberry syrup at an international market. It comes in a wine-size bottle, made by Zer Gut.

    It's excellent over mixed greens with diced apple, bleu cheese, pecans, and dried cranberries.

    This salad can get high in calories so be sure to measure the toppings.

    I do!! Everybody likes them so much that on b-days or whatnots I've bottled them up an assortment. :happy:

    I'm a WWer gal so there all pointed. But I will run them through my masterchef and give you the nutritional breakdown too. :wink:

    I'll start with my all time fav!

    CATALINA DRESSING
    It makes a little more than a cup of dressing, and the entire cup comes out to about 5 points. So it is about a quarter of a point or half a point (0.25 or 0.5 points or less) per serving...depending on how much you use!

    Ingredients
    1/2 cup ketchup, plus 1 tablespoon ketchup
    1/3 cup water
    1/4 cup splenda or other sugar substitute
    1/3 cup white vinegar
    1 tablespoon plus 1 tsp olive oil
    1/4 teaspoon paprika
    1/4 teaspoon coarsely-ground black pepper
    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    1/8 teaspoon onion powder (I used about 1/2 tsp minced onion flakes)
    1 pinch thyme

    Directions
    1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat.
    2. Bring to a boil, whisking often, then reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.
    3. Cover the dressing until cool, then refrigerate it until well chilled.


    I thought it was really good...give it a try if you want something zesty and a bit different! Let me know if you all like it!Instead, I found a bottle of BBQ sauce (Jack Daniel's Smokehouse BBQ) and I used that instead of the ketchup. It's AWESOME: the barbque sauce has less calories then the ketchup so its less points

    CREAMY ITALIAN DRESSING
    Makes ? @ 1 point per 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons)


    Ingredients
    1 cup FF Cottage Cheese
    1/2 to 1/3 of milk (or buttermilk)
    1 pkg. dry Italian Seasoning

    Directions
    1. Blend 1 cup FF Cottage Cheese with 1/3 to 1/2 cup of milk (or buttermilk)
    2. Add a pkg. of dry Italian Seasoning.

    That is about 1 point per 1/4 quarter cup and is very tasty.

    BLUE CHEESE DRESSING
    Makes 14 tablespoons @ 1 points per a 2 tablespoon serving

    Ingredients
    1/2 cup fat free mayonnaise
    2 tablespoons 1% milk
    1 tablespoon lemon juice
    1/2 teaspoon sugar
    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/4 teaspoon ground mustard
    1/2 cup (2 ounces) crumbled blue cheese
    Salad greens

    Directions
    1. In a small bowl, combine the first six ingredients; blend until smooth.
    2. Add the blue cheese; mix well. Serve over greens.
    3 Cover and refrigerate any extra dressing.

    COPYCAT CAESAR DRESSING


    Ingredients
    1/2 cup mayonnaise
    1/3 cup white vinegar
    1 teaspoon vegetable oil
    2 tablespoons corn syrup
    2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
    2 tablespoons romano cheese
    1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
    1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
    1/2 teaspoon parsley
    1 tablespoon lemon juice

    Directions
    1. Mix all ingredients in a blender until well mixed. If this is a little to tart for your own personal tastes add a little extra sugar.

    Calories: 132.8 ;Fat grams: 13.8 Fiber grams: 0.1
    W/W Points: 4

    IF YOU USE FAT-FREE MAYO AND ELIMINATE THE OIL THE FOLLOWING NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION IS PROVIDED:

    Calories: 41.2 ;Fat grams: 0.9; Fiber grams: 0.1

    Here is a recipe I got from a substitute WW leader a few years back. Unfortunately, I don't know her name.

    ANONYMOUS DRESSING
    Makes 2-1/4 c. or 20 (2 tbsp.) servings
    I'm not sure how many point this equals - I think it's a 0 point dressing.

    Ingredients
    1/2 c. fat free sour cream
    1/2 c. light (I use fat free) mayonnaise
    5 level tsp Dijon mustard (you can go to taste on this - Dijon can vary in intensity)
    4 tbsp. white wine vinegar
    1 tsp. dried parsley flakes
    1 tsp. dried basil
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. garlic powder
    1/2 tsp. onion powder
    1/2c c. fat free or light milk

    Directions
    1. Combine all ingredients (except milk) in a bowl.
    2. Stir to blend, then slowly pour in milk and mix.
    3. Refrigerate and allow the flavors to blend for 30 minutes before serving.

    Strawberry Vinegarette

    1 cup Strawberries quartered
    2 T. rice vinegar
    2 t. brown sugar
    2 t. olive oil
    ¼ t. salt & 1/8 tsp. Pepper

    I make this one for my spinach salad with strawberry vinegartte!

    i like to just use balsamic vinegar, or lemon juice mix with olive oil salt/pepper.

    all those other ones sounded yummy !
