Indian Food Advice?

So my boss is taking me out for Indian food for lunch (I would say no as I brought a salad but he gets offended by turning him down...and I do want to eventually move up in this company).
Anyways...any suggestions for Indian food that I could order that wouldn't completely wreck me for the day (as far as calories)? Thanks!!

Hmmm, not sure. But I do know to stay away from the Naan bread ... as delicious as it is
I think it's mainly the sodium you have to watch for in Indian food, but I could be wrong. Sorry I wasn't more help0 -
try tandoori dishes - they are grilled on charcoal. Avoid anything with cream, and naan. If it must be curry, go for something tomato based.
For a start, go for soup.
For main, try a tandoori, chicken or something.0 -
On the food advice - you can order tandoori chicken , vegetables. You can order roti or naan (no oil/butter) or plain steamed rice to go with it. I would avoid any curries with light colored sauce, desserts, fried stuff (samosa, fritters, etc.). In case you have to order as a group, you can eat the meat pieces from the gravy dishes and ditch the gravy portion. enjoy your time!0

Im Indian!!
I'd say eat any ' fresh' vegetables if they have some...cucumbers etc etc...just dont touch the rice. Eat mostly proteins. like if they have a lentil dish, or a chicken dish..if you pair a dry tandoori chicken with some lentils..its yummy and not boring.
dont eat the naan its pure white flour...no benefit whatsoever.
Pick meat pieces out of the gravy and dont eat the gravy...they use tons and tons of butter to make it.
if youre having dessert , try a Lassi..it has yogurt in it and its healthy!0 -
Im after having a 2000 meal of indian with lots of curry and naan and lost the next day. Dont know how that worked but yay. Maybe dont worry about it?0

You are in luck. Indian is one of the best cuisines for eating healthy.
Anything grilled in the tandoor = great
Chicken tikka = great (chicken grilled with yogurt marinade)
(Not the same as chicken tikka masala which is chicken in tomato cream sauce, and probably the worst thing on the menu.)
Some of the vegetarian dishes can be good too, like aloo gobi, though it does have potatoes which aren't low-calorie. Still one of the better vegetarian things to eat. If you have a choice, go for a tandoori meat

Thanks everyone! I just got back and think I did reasonably well.
Got some Tandoori chicken, a little bit of curry chicken (just scooped out a piece of chicken with as little sauce as possible), a small salad, a tiny bit of rice, a little garbanzo beans with sauce and a small piece of that flat crunchy bread (not Naan...avoided that! the stuff I had was like a big tortilla chip).
And it still was enough to fill me up without being too many calories (rough estimate is 500ish). Gotta love Indian food!! Thanks again for all the tips!
