I drink this stuff. I used to go to starbucks for mine til i found out the nutrition value then quickly ended that. I have ended up using the tassimo machine and doing the chai from there, its like half the calories....
the best brewed stuff i have had was at an east indian parade here in BC....so good but i have no clue how they made it.0 -
Mine comes from the Tassimo as well.0

Bump for more replies...
I bought black tea and added honey and sugar and soy...just couldn't get it right. I caved and bought the Oregon Chai Tea Latte concentrate mix and add soy, but it has SO many calories...:frown:
I know usually they add sweetened condensed milk for the creaminess. Cardamom is another flavoring/spice...the rest I don't know.0 -
I love Chai!! I splurge with Starbucks sometimes. At home I just use a Tazo chai tea bag and add some French Vanilla Silk and splenda. I like it when it has some vanilla flavor but the teabags that say with vanilla I don't think taste good.0

I'm a Starbucks Chai fan like someone else here and had to cut it out for the most part... too many sugar calories. I've tried the chai tea bag, added sweet n' low, and some milk and it was just not the same. I'm sure it's the real sugar that's missing. Next time I'll try vanilla soy instead of milk.0

I go to a place that uses the Big Train Chai, so I get it sugar-free with skim milk, and a shot of sugar-free blueberry syrup. It's right around 150 calories, if I remember correctly, and it's DELISH!0

Tazo's Chai concentrate (liquid) is about as close as I can get. Not super healthy but I add skim milk (it's 50% milk and 50% Tazo) with no additional sugar. Still not better than Starbucks but satisfying.0

Teavana has like six different kinds of chai. A bit of vanilla almond milk and splenda and it's perfect0
-
3-4 Teabags of black tea (avoid orange pekoe)
A chunk of dry ginger (or fresh ginger if dry isn't handy)
3-4 cardmom pods, crushed
3 Cloves
Small piece of cinnamon
A Tsp of anise seed
1-2 black pepper corns
Sweetner & Milk to taste
Bring 2 cups of water to boil.
Add all the ingredients and boil again for about 15 seconds.
Let stand for a minute. Warm milk in a pot. Filter tea into cups.
Add milk and sweetner.0 -

Look around, there is both a low sugar and unsweetened one!0 -

I haven't found a strong enough tea bag yet, and I like my tea on the spicier side, so I have been making my own spice blend:
cinnamon sticks, whole peppercorns, whole cardamon, 1 chopped vanilla bean is a good blend to start with. I brew from loose leaf tea. You can googe chai tea spice blend, they sell pre-made spice blends so you can add your own tea, of recipes.0 -
