Should I have something else to eat?

It's 8:50 pm and I just got off my elliptical. The calories burned bring my total today to 884 calories. I have 906 calories remaining. Obviously, I'm not going to sit down and eat 900 calories at this time but should I eat something to bring me up to 1200 or should I just leave well enough alone and go to bed without getting at least 1200 calories???
Thanks!
Gina

Good on you crimson. I think if you undereat one day you can be more inclined to go off your diet the next day. Or at least, that is what happens to me...

If you havent made 1200 total consumed, I would suggest eating something. If you're worried about 'net calories' because of your workout, but have already consumed at least 1200 for the day, dont worry about it unless you're hungry.
Thats my opinion... Others will flog you with a wet noodle if you don't NET 1200+ for the day.0 -
ditto. Obviously, I'm not going to sit down and eat 900 calories at this time

You should almost always eat something after working out anyways... a protein to repair your muscles is always good.
A handful of nuts, maybe some pb, possibly a glass of chocolate milk, some yogurt, or a piece of cheese, etc.0 -
I agree with Trinitrate0

Yeah, why not?
I ate over 1000 calories this evening.....homemade pizza and birthday cake for my son's b-day. It was mighty delicious and I'm still under my TDEE for the day per my BodyMedia Fit. Eat up, food is fuel....enjoy it!0 -
.....are you hungry? if so, go for it

I add skim milk to my extra calories at the end of the day. Tastes goooood!0

If you're eating high quality nutrition and met your goal for protein, I'm inclined to say, it's alright to do this once. Don't make a habit of it however. If you're calories are from pop tarts for breakfast and a hot dog for lunch, it's best to eat something healthy before bed so your muscles can recover.0

I have a hard time getting my calories up to 1200 to begin with. It's a mental thing for me. One that I am working to overcome. The idea of sitting down for a 900 calorie snack right now is overwhelming to me.
I was one who would eat around 700 calories a day and still feel like I was over eating. I am obese and now I understand that I was putting my body into starvation mode.
I'm still learning what my body needs for calories and how to fulfill that need with healthy choices.
Thanks for the replies!!0 -
If you're hungry, eat. If you're not, don't. Your body knows your needs better than any website or other people can tell you.0

Yes you should eat more, if you are going to do this at night and don't want to eat afterwards you should eat more calories earlier in the day. I try to eat almost all of my exercise calories.0

uhhh...she was on the elliptical. her muscles do not need to recover from that. she simply needs to eat. have some ice cream or something.0 -
I think I would feed your musles a little something. Think protein! Cottage cheese, cheese stick, glass of milk.0

Same dilemma. I ate a hard boiled egg. Didnt help to much. But I am full.0

A nice thick protein shake/smoothie is always a good choice after a workout...
even if you're going to bed soon...
the protein will help repair your muscles while you sleep0 -
Depends, are you hungry?0
