i am getting frustrated and so confused! When i started my weightloss back in May i was at a 1500 cal budget. I lost 25lbs in the first 2months. Then plateaued and school got in the way along with kids that i didn't get much time to exercise. Now I come back to this site and they set me at 1200 and i went with that. I am still not losing and told to eat more with burns that i have (anywhere from 300-700). Now i try to eat more and i just feel so sick! and no energy to exercise....i'm just lost!!!! i do not know what to do anymore...i know weightloss isn't easy, but it doesn't seem like it should be this difficult:frown:

Have you been switching your workouts? Building more muscle burns more fat, usually when you hit a plateau your body is telling you that's it's used to doing what you do and needs a change. Try running on the treadmill in quick bursts of 1-2 min and walking for 4-5 min, then do the quick bursts again. This confuses your body and speeds up weight loss as it's not used to the quick bursts. Don't give up! Also, you could seek some professional trainer help as well or google some new work outs that help to break plateaus.

About the 1200 calories, it sounds like a bit less and you may need to eat them back. It's probably why you're tired with no energy eating 1200 calories and then burning off up to 700 is probably causing your body to go into starvation mode and it won't lose weight. I would eat back those calories you've burned so you've had your fill in food and aren't weak at the end of the day.

Woah, that's confusing. Have yo tried eating more...and then creating a deficit with exercise? That way, you'll have energy and more of an opportunity to get your nutrition in instead of 1200 calories. For example. Eating 1500 calories - 300 calories of exercise = 1200 total calories. More calories, more energy to burn more calories.

I had enough energy from the 1200 cals it is now that i have to eat more that is making me sick and feeling heavy and low energy. I really managed just fine with the 1200 cal eating about 100 back.

Maybe its the type of food you are eating. I too am on a 1200 calorie diet and typically only walk for 40 minutes per day for my exercise. Granted I'm 49 and that probably had something to do with it. But last week I took a look at the fat and refined sugars I was consuming - all staying within my 1200 calories. So this week I reduced the fat intake, eliminate refined sugars, and increased my protein and low and behold I've lost 2 pounds. Go figure.

It sounds like you are being real hard on yourself... it takes time and patience. I know how frustrating it can be not to see the scale move first hand, but if you feel better and you are healthier than you were when you began than those are benefits too.. I just started with MFP in January/February 2012 and up until then I had lost 63 lbs, and gained 17 of it back due to being sad, lazy and emotional eater, genetics, work, school, no one would support me (u name the reason for my failings and I can say been there done that) however this time it is all about me being accountable to me and how I FEEL.. yes we all want to look better in some way after all we live in a very shallow world.. but the benefits of what you are doing for yourself go far past just being skin deep. Don't be overly critical, you will acheive your goals and if you feel you are stuck, change your excercise routine, change your foods up, go low carb/high protein for a week, go vegetarian for a week, shock the heck out of your system until it responds and then come back to your normal diet and stay within your calorie goals and you will see the success you want... believe in yourself:smile:

I also started 30 day shred and even though my knees won't let me do everything full force. I am noticing a difference in muscle tone. And I have been doing 30DS since 2/20 and have lost 1/4 of an inch in the thigh area.

I think that you are still eating too little, when you have calorie burns from exercise you need to eat those calories. Wen I started eating back my exercise calories the weight came off.

I looked at your diary for the past 2 weeks and it looks like you eat a lot of processed foods. Try eating some fresh vegetables each day. You are also consuming a considerable amount of sodium... The RDA for anyone is 2,300 mg. Some days you exceed this by a mile. This can cause excess water weight. Best of luck to you.

With Jillian's 30DS you may not lose weight but you will lose inches. I'd keep moving my body, but possibly split your meals up and snacks and eat more often (1,200 calories split up) but make sure you eat back those calories so even after exercising you still have consumed 1,200 calories for that day.

the days of higher sodium has been from trying to eat more....and the veggies i so try, but was never made to eat them as a child and canned veggies just don't work for me. But i have recently been trying to incorporate those in!

up the intensity of your workouts and get a Heart Rate Monitor. You're probably overestimating how many calories you are burning.

I just skimmed your diary and I will tell you, you eat alot of processed food, As I did, Calories are not all the same. You could eat a ton more food, have tons of energy and lose weight bu simply changing what you eat. I'm no expert but I have seen the results. I only know what worked for me. I spent 2 years yo yoing up and down 2 lbs. tired frustrated and feeling hopeless.

You burn 500 calories from just walking? Are you sure your HRM monitor is correct? that seems pretty high to me.

feeling weighed down tells me your eating too many carbs. I know for myself if I eat pasta or oatmel before my work out I have a hard time getting myself moving. But I know where your coming from when I first started on here eating all my cals was the hardest part jsut thinking about eating my burned cals made me sick but I'm working my way up there.

Try spreading out your meals if you feel sick from eating too much. eventually your metabolism will catch up. my guess is that your body is used to not getting enough calories so your metabolism has slowed to a stand still. make sure you're eating every couple hours and spread out your calories over 3 meals and 2-3 snacks. Personally, I have 2 meals a day, a big breakfast and a decently sized (after workout) dinner. I spread out lunch into three different snacks. I sometimes have a snack before bed as well.

but then again I am not always meticulous about how much I eat. I even let myself do/eat what I want on the weekends. Personally, I focus more on BF% and inches and rarely even step on the scale. I just weigh myself every so often to make sure I'm staying in the same range.
