Low carbers, is your grocery bill higher or lower or the sam

I keep seeing people say stuff about how low carbing is so expensive. My whole family is low carbing now and I am not seeing an increase in my grocery bill. Now when it was just me and I was buying for my family and then myself it was way more, but now with all of us doing it, things are much more manageable. My freezer is full of meat and frozen veggies for the rest of the month, the only things left to buy is fresh produce and almond milk as needed. It's the 10th of the month and I still have $200 left in my grocery budget. I am thinking this might work out to be cheaper.

    Hey there.
My family eats a diet consisting of whole organic foods, high protein intake and we are gluton and dairy free (with the exception of organic greek yogurt, organic cottage cheese and organic whole milk for my 3 y/o son). I have found that since cutting out all the processed and carb type foods, that our grocery bills have come down in cost because we are not purchasing all the processed convience stuff that really adds to your bottom line.

Thanks for answering, thats what I am seeing too, the only convenience foods I purchased was fruit for the kiddos to snack on and some frozen whole fruit bars for when they deserve a treat. They really don't seem to mind the change yet.

I'm finding my grocery bill is lower. I have a lot less waste. We aren't eating out as much either, that helps. Cereal is expensive, eggs are a lot less expensive.

I am noticing it's the same, my kids and SO still eat carbs, sweets, crisps etc but I'm finding the flours and extra bits make up for what I'm not eating.x

It's much cheaper when you cook your own low carb meals. I don't buy any pre-made/packaged food anymore. Saving a lot of money!

I am also trying to do lower carb as well. I find that whn you dont buy junk and buy the produce in season it helps. Also eating more beans/legumes instead of meat can hjelp too.

I am very fortunate in numerous ways.

    1. My husband is happy to eat what ever I cook, so it makes it easy without having to shop for stuff for me and for him. I make home made goodies for him when he requests due to his good natured spirit.

    2. I have lots of farms with grass fed beef, free roaming and pastured pigs and free range poultry and eggs. I also have access to raw dairy from local Amish farms.

    3. I belong to a produce Coop where I get a IKEA bag full of fruits and vegetables for $23.50 for a 2 week supply.

    4. I bought into a CSA farm and will start getting more fruits and vegetables delivered on a weekly basis starting next month.

My grocery bill is a fraction of what it used to be when I first started low carbing back in 2003. And I am getting much higher quality food then I was back in then also.

Really? Wow! Honestly, I always thought it was more expensive too. I would love to know your tricks and how and what you're buying that's lowering the cost. I'd love to try it out but like I said I just always think it will cost MORE...lol

Are you buying meats in bulk? If so from like a meat store or grocery story...

Fill me in. I wanna try too. I've been wanting to go low carb and I don't get enough protein as it is and with how I'm wanting to start a muscle building plan, I NEED to.

How do you do it? What are you buying and in what size packages and from where? LOL
