Low Fat Food

HI!

Is low fat food worth it? Most of the few foods I have that are low fat, are only 10-20 calories less per serving. Which doesn't really seem worth the lack of quality. Unless eating several servings. Also don't we need some fat? Even if we are dieting and trying to lose body fat?

I found this site a couple of days ago and posted it for someone who asked the same sort of question as you and I feel it has a few good points on why we need fat in our body:

When you read the labels on food packages you might see low fat. But then as you say the calories are only a few less. Usually it is more sugar or salt added under one of the many chemical names to give it some flavor that the fat used to supply.

I don't care for "diet" anything. I prefer to eat real food. Whole food. That way, I know what I am getting. Mainly fresh fruits and veggies.

Read the labels carefully to see if it is worth it to you. I don't care for the chemicals in the packaged food.

Edit: And yes your body needs fat. But fat can come from whole foods like avocados & nuts & seeds.

Apparently your better off eating normal versions because low fat means low fat and normally has higher carb and sugar levels which is worse.

Don't do low fat or nonfat. It's icky. Plus fat doesn't make you fat :)
  • From reading labels and comparing non-fat and no sugar, I tend to take a few extra calories and go with no sugar. Those few calories are worth not getting all the extra sugar.

Hi All! My big thing is cheese :p. I love cheddar! Low fat cheddar just seems watered down :( So does low fat milk. What are your thoughts on low fat dairy?
