Hello all,

In January, I was 5'10 and 240. Discovered I had hyper-tension (duh), and began a journey of weight loss and healthy eating. A co-worker introduced me to myfitnesspal and I haven't looked back. Based on my profile, I was set at 1460 calories per day, with a goal of dropping 2 pounds per week.

I also started working out with weights three days per week. Well, the weight basically started melting off. People started noticing, so I got really jazzed, and started working out everyday. In two months, I dropped 30!

Problem .... as my caloric intake dropped, i kept the same workout schedule. I hit a wall about two weeks ago, and I've been going back and forth from 208 back to 210 back to 208.

Guess what, I turned up the weight lifting. Wrong answer. I'm set at 1300 cals per day, but working out like a mad man. Well, got my lesson Monday. I was in the middle of working out, and in between sets, I jumped up to start my last set, and got super dizzy, and my heart rate flew way up!

Drove myself to the Doctors to have my blood pressure checked, etc. Blood pressure was good, but my heart rate was way up. Had to sit around for an hour before it went back to 65.

I've been slightly light headed for a few days now. Spoke with my Doc, and he says its due to the weight loss and I need to eat more several smaller meals and eat more regularly. Makes sense.

After all of that, here is my question.

Which number should I follow ... the actual FOOD consumed, or the NET?

Right now my board shows:

1300 (goal) Food (+1050) Exercise (-404) net (646)

I'm asking because I'm planning to fall back on the weights; gonna walk more, but I don't want to re-gain the weight. Should my net reach 1300? Or should my actual food consumed reach 1300? If my food consumed is 1300, then my net will only be 896. Is that enough food? If i take my net to 1300, then my food will be in the 1400 to 1500s, and that seems to defeat the whole purpose.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Happy journey,

Rex

From what I've been informed is you should at least net 1200(what basil metabolic rate requires). Some people zig zag their calories too( high cal day then two good or something of that sort)

*sigh* You've seen what 1300 total calories per day got you - a trip to the doctor. 30 pounds in two months is a big weight loss. If your new MFP base is 1300 (which already has your deficit calculated!) and you burn 1000 in exercise, then you should be eating about 2300 calories.
