Pinterest Recipe Boards?

Options
Hey! I just joined Pinterest (the online board site) and I have found it to be great for recipes. The only problem is, the really amazing recipes I usually find on there are super unhealthy... My boyfriend and I have made a pact not to eat out until after April 15th, and to try making at least 2 new recipes each week. I've been using pinterest to find mine, but they're all really calorie heavy. Do any of you MFP-ers have a HEALTHY pinterest recipe board, and if so, can we be friends? You can find me with my e-mail, which is msbailey2009 at gmail dot com.

Thank you! I'm excited to see your recipes! (I know there is a whole message board here, clearly, but I like Pinterest because I can keep everything organized in one place.)

    Hey!

Congrats on your plan not to eat out - that's great (and hard)! I feel the same way about pinterest - I look at the boards under Food and just get hungry for sweets on pinterest! I have tried to find people with healthy recipe boards by using the search and typing things like "low carb" "low fat" "diet" "weight watchers recipes" etc. then right under the search box you can click on "Boards" and find all the boards with those names. I did that and followed a bunch of healthy boards. I try to avoid carbs so I have a low carb board: http://pinterest.com/amandajopins/low-carb-recipes/.

    Hopefully this helps!

I have found some really tasting looking recipes on Pinterest, however you are right not the low-cal options you are looking for. For me, seeing a picture of the food is what sells it. So I found this blog that I follow that has AMAZING pictures of food. Even food that I know I would never eat normally, looks good. So if you are interested in taking a look it's under

I am on Pinterest and have both healthy and un-healthy (for special occasions). I got some of my recipes from Skinnytaste.com. Still need to put some into the recipe builder to see how healthy they actually are. You are welcome to take a look, Shona Myers on Pinterest. :)

Or you could search the net for healthy recipies, and pin them to your board, creating your own healthy board.

What I like to do with pretty much any recipie, is tweak it until it fits me, subbing some ingredients for others that fit me.

My username is redapplecandie, I think I have a couple things on there.

I'm on Pinterest also and i have found TONS of healthy recipes. You have to search for them by Board, not just pins. I find them usually using "Healthy" and "clean eating" and "low calorie" as the search words and there they all are.

Just like anything else, you have to do a little digging and you will find what you're looking for :)

I have not been too successful on pinterest (but I LOVE it) I do find a lot of workout motivation in the fitness section though.

I have to throw my support behind the skinnytaste website. I find myself meals from her website several times a week. My boyfriend, who is involuntarily eating healthy :), really likes a lot of her stuff. I have actually added her to my google homepage so when I check my email I see new things she's recommending.

I find pinterest pretty funny because there's all these pins about getting thin (often using bogus science but whatevs) and pictures of muscular women as "inspiration" but you go to the recipe board and its almost all very fatty foods!

Mines about 50/50 healthy and not so great food: http://pinterest.com/skehl/food-to-try/

I also have a board on workout routines: http://pinterest.com/skehl/workouts/
