Another newbie to myfitnesspal :)

Hello Everyone,
I need some motivation!
I'm 5'6", 24, female, unfortunately pear shaped and currently 165 lbs. Fall 2010, I was up to 180 lbs, but worked out heavily last spring (to be a bridesmaid for a friend) and was down to 139. My sister also lived with me briefly and she was my workout/calorie watching buddy. After the wedding, I stopped working out and started my bad habits again. My sister is no longer living with me and I have no one that wants to be a gym partner.
My problem is also time management, I work 12 hour shifts, with 2 hours of commuting to work. So I'm gone from home 14 hours a day. I also work both day and night shifts, constantly switching between the two. It's mainly a desk job, with only occasion heavy lifting and spurts of walking.
I'm finding it very hard to sleep, clean, grocery shop, cook healthy meals, work out, etc in my measly 10 hours away from work. I end up relying on fast food when I don't have time to cook, and it's also pretty cold in northern Canada, so i don't like going out to the gym after work as much as i did in a warmer season.
I joined myfitnesspal to be more aware of my food intake and hopefully start wanting to workout again.
Any ideas/suggestions for my situation would be greatly appreciated
I also end up working around 25 days a month, so suggesting I work out on my days off isn't going to really help me haha

Keeping track of your calorie intake is a great start! And with you working 25 days of the month..if your job is active then it's like a workout all in its own0

Sorry to say, but if you want results that badly, working out on your days off would definitely be a massive bonus! And as long as you stay within your calorie deficit, you should be fine considering your job seems to involve quite a bit of movement.0

Thank you Unfortunately though, my job is not very active at all. I sit at a desk most of the day and only have to walk a few steps at a time. I have the occasional heavy lifting but not enough to consider it a work out. I wish I could do mini workouts while at work, but if I were caught, my boss would be less than impressed0

What about ankle weights for the times that you get to walk around? it would create some resistance and give you a bit of a work out when you have the time to move from your desk0

I definitely want to work out on my days off! I just mean, that considering I spend about 80% of my days working, I would love some time management / general help for that time. My days off do need to have more workout time scheduled in, but my real issue is finding time to be healthly while working.0

My name is Kevin, since july I have lost 45 pounds but since starting myftinesspal I have lost 8 pounds in about three weeks now,I make sure I keep my calorie intake around 2000 for the day. I have a two year and one on the way on St.Patricks day, what help me is my sons i think it would be good to find someone or something to work for other than yourself, if I did not have a son now I would still be 333 pounds I have drop to 290 has of now. and all I do run, I don't do the gym just run,I Think a good support system around also will help you,only people that struggle with weight lost know what where going through. Have good evening keep the good work and good things will come.0 -
whenever i feel like i dont have much time in the day to work out, i go to my netflix online and do a 10min dance work out video. gets me sweating and heart pounding... and only ten minutes... may not be much but atleast its something on those busy days. and you dont need to go out into the cold =] good luck!0
