Why is there an advert for Pizza Hut at the top of this page?

    Somebody told me that it goes by what you search for. I'm guessing so because one of my MFP friends went to the Kalahari recently so I looked it up and now the majority of my ads up there are for the Kalahari when it didn't used to ever be there. If you've searched for nothing, it remains at the diet pills and weight loss ones I believe.

    I get food ads, too, but I figure that's more than compensated for by the massive pictures of toenail fungus that grace other ads (and I can't imagine how that's related to what I search for).

    Yeah, most of the time the ads that show up on websites you go to are relevant to what you've searched recently.

    Its how ads work. In your cookies they track what you have recently searched, what has been posted on websites you have visited, etc. Seeing as you are on a weightloss and food site, it sees that, then the ad searches its database for a food ad, in hopes that you might buy something from it. I get android phone ads, because I read a lot on android phones

    I use the Chrome browser and run the ad block extension... I see no ads :) I think Firefox has an ad block extension, too.

    I'm getting some sort of wedding dress/formal gown website.

    I have never ever googled wedding dresses. The last thing that I googled was something like 'how the feck do you kill convolvulus' (it's the herpes of the garden).

    Its the cookies in your browser telling them what to advertise it comes on what type of sites / things you search for as they are targeting the audience which is YOU.

    You can delete the cookie and it will reset and give you random ones.

    Ah gotcha. I also get a ton of bikini body ads too. IDK, maybe the google ads thinks I need to get into that bikini this summer

    It's not just what you search for... the ads are smart ads. If there is type on the page that says something about pizza an ad with pizza will be displayed. If your page says something about running - there you go, a plethora of ads about running shoes, clothes, etc. I hate it, but it is so.
