If you're just getting started, I would leave it alone, especially if this is a large adjustment for you. Give it a few weeks and see how you fare. If you don't see results after that, drop it, but I would only do so about 100 calories at a time. In addition, I always find that a 3 low/1 high calorie cycle works best. On the fourth day, I add 300-400 calories to my diet, just to keep my glucose levels up and my metabolism "confused." Good luck!
  • I just upper mine last week from 1200 to 1400. I didn't want to eat the bare minimum of calories anymore, and I really only increased it by like, a snack.
  • Like the advice of of riqui1..3 low. 1 high..might try that myself

MFP initially put me on 1200 kcal and I found that really hard to stick by, even with exercise. 1400 will still allow you to lose weight, so I'd personally stick with that.

I would recommend eating at least your BMR. How are your workouts going? How many days a week are you working out? Are you doing strength training? If so how often? Do you eat your workout calories back?

If you log exercise you've done it shows the number of calories burned. You can "add" these back into your daily allotment and eat them if you wish to adhere to your daily calories allowed. From what I have read, some do and some don't.
  • I personally think you'd be better off sticking with your current 1400, as that's most likely close to your BMR, and you should try not to eat less than that. Besides, you're doing great, so don't cut back now!
