redbox vs. Netflix (by mail)
I'm trying to figure out which would be most cost effective for me. With gas prices the way they are now, I'm realizing it costs me $1.50 in gas to rent and return a redbox movie ($2.78 total), making it not as cheap as it seems. My problem with Netflix is that I can hardly control when I'm in the mood to see a certain movie and I end up keeping movies for too long. New releases also have long wait times.
Which do you prefer?

I got rid of Netflix by mail because I wasn't watching enough each month to make it cost effective. 3 movies by Redbox will cost you 8.34 according to your calculations. Will you watch more than 3 movies a month with Netflix?
I wasn't, I'm happy just watching the streaming now.0 -
I like netflix better. It was such a hassle for me to take the redbox movies back.0

But do you always make a special trip to get a Redbox movie? I thought people did that when they were already out.0

Yeah this is what I do. If I drive by one, and I wanna watch a movie, I just stop and grab it. But maybe you live in a rural area? I do but I live in town so it's easy to get to the machine.
There is a lot of stuff on streaming Netflix. If you can get it hooked up to your TV I would say that!0 -

That doesn't include the late fees, which is why I only get a redbox or blockbuster movie if I have a freebie code, lol. We have Netflix instant, which we use every single day, and DVDs, which is great for the no late fees. I doubt we will give it up, it is more than worth it for us.0 -

We got rid of Netflix because they keep upping the price. For the same price of 2 movies at a time and online streaming, (that we never really watched) we can get 3 movies and or games from Blockbuster plus you are able to trade the movies in at a Blockbuster store. My husband does use Redbox when he is working his off duty job (Police Officer sitting on a bridge for 7 hrs while the workers do whatever they are doing). Oh with Blockbuster, it ends up being about $2 a movie/game if we play or watch them as soon as they come it....we can get about 9-12 movies a month just by mail. I try to keep it so we get a movie about every 2-4 days.0

I stream Netflix, and if I have to see a new movie I rent from Redbox. Works like a charm. But I have 6 Redbox machines in a two mile radius, even though I live in the suburbs.0

We're an Instant Watch, Hulu, and various other free sites couple. Just had to cut back this summer to save money and then realized we didn't miss it. /shrug0
