This isn't an endorsement (I'm one of those masochists on a road bike with a rock hard seat) but I saw this listed on amazon

    http://www.amazon.com/Bell-GelTech-Ultimate-Comfort-Bicycle/dp/B000667LV4

and it looks like a nice comfy seat - or - you could get one of the gel seat covers like this one

    http://www.amazon.com/Bell-Relief-Bicycle-Seat-Cover/dp/B000AAYBLO

(my wife has the seat cover & loves it)

Schwin sells a foam cover for seats. It helped me.

Look Up Cloud 9 brand, I have a seat for my bike it looks close to riding lawnmower seat. Cloud 9 makes a bunch of different sizes I basically picked the biggest one they had at the store. I think it was around $40, but well worth it.

You can buy gel covers that aren't too expensive, or...a wider comfy seat at a bike shop. Don't you love getting out on your bike?!

Check your local bike shop for a women's comfort saddle - don't mess with the racing saddles unless you're actually wanting to race - but the comfort saddles are a lot better for just riding around and riding for exercise. And maybe consider getting some bike shorts that have the extra padding in the butt.

My answer - and I know you won't like it - is "Suck it up, buttercup." Eventually your butt will get used to a hard seat, and when you do, it's SOOOOOO much more comfortable than a soft n lumpy saddle.

Just keep riding what you have, let your butt get used to it, and you'll be tickled pink. I promise.

And honestly - no matter what kind of saddle you have - first week or so getting used to it, your butt will hurt. I'd say give it a little more time before you decide if you need a new saddle or not.

I have a gel seat on my bike, absolutely love it. It is my second one (different bikes). I would get to your nearest bicycle shop if you have one near you. There are tons to choose from. Mine is also a wide seat, I guess it depends on what kind of a bike you are riding. A racing bike will probably call for a skinny seat. Happy riding!!

I don't know if you've been biking long, but they told me when I bought my Trek last summer to give it 60 days before I considered changing the seat. The first week I thought "Yeah, I'm not gonna make it, I hate this thing." But my opinion totally changed, and I kind of forgot about it until this winter, and I then I decided I obviously didn't need to change it since it wasn't bothering me anymore. I'm so excited for warm biking weather!

I started out with an el cheapo gel seat from Aldi but after building up my kms and getting into cycling shorts, I've found it is actually more comfortable to ride without the gel seat. One bike magazine I read said that it was because there is less contact between the backside and the seat without the gel seat. Good luck.

I would recommend visiting your local bike shop for a women’s comfort seat, seat cover or purchase a pair of padded cycling shorts. The padded cycling shorts can help a great deal. I am an avid cyclist who rides hours in the saddle with my bike club and solo on the road. Also if you are new to cycling your sit bones and tissue on your rear must adjust to the seat as well.

Thanks for all the tips and suggestions! I am going to start googling all the ideas when I get off work :)
I can't wait for my butt to get use to the seat, my girls and I both loved getting out and riding yesterday (esp the baby in the trailer :), even in the cold drizzling rain--that normally doesn't happen this time of year in Nebraska :)

UPdate: I rode my bike again lastnight, the 19month old LOVES her trailer, and my butt was sore, but not as sore as I thought it would be. :)
