Hello, my first post here. I have torn cartiladge in my left knee. What are some good exercises I can do?

I've thought about swimming, but I don't have access to a pool.

Should I get an ab-rocker. I use to do situps but now they hurt my back.

I like to lift weights, but don't have any. I'm wondering what cardio-vasular exercise I can get.

If you have joint damage there are quite a few aerobic activities that you can still do. Does it hurt when you walk? While walking doesn't burn as many calories as running it's still great exercise (and enjoyable getting out and getting some fresh air). Cycling is also a great way to burn off some calories, I'm also a big fan of rowing - you get a full body workout as well as improving your cardiovascular health.

I've just had two tears removed from my knee via arthroscope -- two weeks ago now, so I'm still in the 'low impact' stage of recovery.

I was recommended low/no impact work, so I did a pump class at the gym. I wasn't allowed to do squats or lunges or stairs for exercise... so no stair machine, or step work.

I was able to walk without incline, I found inclines really hurt my knee -- but I think it depends on where the tear/s are.

I only have one leg and the only knee i have hurts like hell but they are all kind of things you can do,
Weights are good - start small and increase it as you get better at it,
I had no weights until Thursday last week, I used to lift the 5 liter water bottles at first then other things to add weight.
Just be careful though but what ever you do is better than nothing.
